Wait a minute, so Itaru was meant to voice Soundwave but was replaced at the last minute due to a serious breach of contract? It must have been a very big deal
Although I find it inteteresting that there's been a last minute change in Transformers One's Japanese dub, because here in Spanish-speaking Latin America some fans tried to mobilize on social networks for Paramount to change the voices of Megatron and Bumblebee, because both caharacters are voiced by celebrities and do not sound particularly great, especially Megatron, but it didn't work

Not only was he dropped, but he's not even in the industry anymore? Whatever he did must've been serious.

This is, in my opinion, quite incredible, since this is an American film, and the Japanese side had the guts to pull this off at the middle of the film's theatrical run. Dunno how much it would cost to the American side to having to replace the original Japanese dub with another one just because one of the voice actors did something the Japanese side did not like.

Actually, he's being replaced after the last minute, as the movie is already in theaters over there. This is not a normal situation at all, so he must have done something egregious for them to take such an expensive action.

I could imagine it for idol or vtube industry, but what exactly would constitute a serious breach in voice acting? Leaks? Exposing trade secrets? If it was of the criminal kind, there would be some other news too, or at least rumours.

I'm going to assume this is drug related. As nothing else really seems to want the entertainment to replace you in everything and pretend you never existed.

Aside from domestic violence or sexual assault?

Is that surprising?

Typically once you cast the actors you don’t change them out. Unless something happens prior to or in the middle of production.

Well, to be fair, Japan doesn't have a great track record of having significant consequences for that sort of thing. Drugs is where they really jump into action to blacklist someone from the entire industry....

Whether or not we ever get a reputable hint or confirmation as to what that breach was is debatable. So many questions to be had. One is was whatever he did a breach of contract under Japanese law or was it not and his agency merely claiming it was?

For something this drastic it would have to be in the level that it violated the usual clause in a contract about causing severe damage to the reputation of the company, usually breaking the law, yes (though it could be something that's not technically breaking the law like doing marijuana overseas in a country where it is legal)

Maybe it was really really bad but the victim declined to press charges....

Hello.
I was curious, so I actually checked what the Japanese comments in the original article say.
They pointed out:
1) there are no news about Yamamoto’s arrest
2) the company not divulging the details is their “final mercy”
3) if it was affair or sexual misconduct, at most he’d be suspended from working and on house arrest - but it would not lead to a total ban from industry
4) there are 2 possible reasons - drug substances or really damaging leak of trade secrets

(P.S. I prefer to imagine he said/did something that angered some top boss of the industry, because that would be more interesting.)

There's the possibility he suffered the same thing Hiroko Konishi did: Maybe Yamamoto was forced to do something against his will, and he is blacklisted as a result.

He probably quit the entire entertainment industry because he leaked the projects he was working on before the official announcement. As you know, Japan hates leaks, and if other companies find out about this, they probably wouldn’t want to work with him. That’s why he decided to quit the entire entertainment industry.

I believe becouse he leak something about his project because there was a significant breach of contract, and since they never mentioned his arrest, it's likely he didn't commit a crime.

it ended its management contract with voice actor Itaru Yamamoto as of September 14, due to an "acknowledged serious breach of contract." The agency added that Yamamoto is no longer working in the entertainment industry.

*Thugnificent voice* Man... What did he do to breach that contract and exit the industry?

Quote:
However, the film's website announced on Sunday that the staff will replace Yamamoto in the dub that is already playing in theaters.

He will most likely not keep on keeping on in the Aldnoah.Zero 10th anniversary BD next year.
