I'm not entirely sold on the premise, but the production values look solid.

I'm honestly really on board just based on the idea that they're using the premise to go back to more grounded hand-to-hand combat type stuff and the fact that there's a sense of danger coming from things and people bigger than Goku. Just seems more adventurous, kinda like how OG Dragon Ball felt around the beginning.
I hope they really do deliver on that feeling.

The problems with GT wasn't with the premise but how it was executed so I'm down for revisiting that concept and the animation looks really good.

Agreed on all points. Still, I'm a bit skeptical -- hopeful, but skeptical -- as even disregarding the animation quality, I don't think DB media has had particularly good fight direction or choreography for most of the original media (IE stuff not based on the original manga).
Like I don't think we, as a fandom, have ever fully come to grips with just how crucial it was for Toei to be able to use Toriyama's manga panels as key frames back in the day, because whatever his faults may be -- Toriyama is a genius at panel composition, fight choreography, and choosing interesting poses and angles to draw them.

I'd definitely like a more adventurous tone (I definitely preferred those bits of DBS to the more conventional tournament/battle arcs) but with regards to more grounded combat... I keep thinking back to the reason Toriyama changed Goku's character design in the first place: his proportions were too small to be believable trading punches/kicks with foes -- he needed longer limbs for the more serious fighting manga DB was turning into!
Though that limitation did perhaps give us one of the most iconic scenes in the whole manga -- and arguably the most memorable "villain defeat" panel ever -- at the end of the King Piccolo arc.

Now it seems even more like a GT remake. I'm fine with that.

It's interesting these recent Dragon Ball projects all feel like very specific "wish fulfillments": Broly put into the main story, a Gohan/Piccolo focus story that makes them relevant again, and of course revisiting Kid Goku Adventures.

What I still would like to know... and I'm surprised hasn't been revealed yet, is where does this series fit into the canon. Is it a sequel series or a gaiden spin-off?

"GT Done Right."
At least the animation and fights look pretty good.

I can't help but notice that Goku doesn't use any sort of energy attacks anywhere in the trailer, and instead brings back his magic staff, which we haven't seen in ages. That seems to signal that they really are bringing back the feel of OG Dragon Ball, and that Goku may actually be weaker in this version.
One of the big mistakes GT made was that they reversed Goku's age but his power level and fighting style didn't change, so it felt like a pointless cosmetic change. Hopefully this is a sign that Daima is avoiding that. If Daima is actually reverting Goku to the same power level he had as a child, that would be a really interesting twist, and would force him to come up with more clever strategies than just "raise my power level until I can brute-force my way past the current bad guy." Kid Goku at the very start of Dragon Ball was already super-strong, probably stronger than like 90% of the people on Earth, but someone like Frieza could have obliterated him without even trying. It'll be fun to see Goku be an underdog again.

GT done right wouldn't include any de-aging. It least money was spend. Can't say that about DBS.

First half of the trailer had me convinced they'd made a Dragon Ball cooking show which, to be honest, I'd watch.

Even though they did de-aging before, it's a still more refreshing than having them fight more and more ridiculously strong villains. Imagine if Gurren Lagann, after having them defeat the most powerful force in the universe, had them fight an even more most powerful force in the universe.

On the one hand, I'm pretty curious about this, and think this could be fun. But on the other hand, I really can't warm up to this art style. I'm already feeling conflicted about Akira Toriyama's current art style, and this doesn't do anything to change that. Something looks so off to me.
