Well, this looks pretty cool actually. Love the character desings and the artstyle. Wish it wasn't full CGI though...

Maybe just be me - but dang it, this version of Musashi just look like Adachi from Yakuza series (which partly is Akio Otsuka own face) than Toshiro Mifune, that they trying to emulate.

If nothing else, this will definitely be a unique production. I don't know how Miike's eye will translate to the CG animated medium, but I'm definitely interested in finding out.

The cinematography and CG are on point. Kengan Ashura of course proved that Netflix shows can look good in this style.

Anyway, the leaked AAA reboot (though the big Capcom data breach) has to be announced next year, now that the IP is officially reintroduced.

I thought that was Akio Otsuka (forgive my misspelling of last name) as Musashi Miyamoto. I'll give this a watch, out of curiosity.

All-star cast + music is on-point...still not convinced on the animation though. It looked fine at times but certain run animation...

Man, the trailer looks promising, and I say this as someone who got chance to play Onimusha 1 and 2 on the PS2.

I like the cast, it looks promising:

Akio Ōtsuka as Musashi Miyamoto

Oh so they got Solid Snake to voice this character. I wonder if the English dub will have David Hayter voicing the character (Dear Netflix, please get him to voice Miyamoto).

And I take it that Samanosuke from the first (& third) game will not appear in the series.

Famed director Takashi Miike (live-action Ichi the Killer, Blade of the Immortal, Crows Zero, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable, Terraformars) serves as the supervising director.

So this will be Miike's first anime directing job judging from his record.

The series uses the late prolific actor Toshirō Mifune (Rashomon, Seven Samurai) as a model for the character Miyamoto Musashi.

Oh that's interesting to hear. I hope his estate or his relatives gave approval for using his face for this anime adaptation. I see the anime and the franchise keeping their practice of basing their protagonists on real-life Japanese movie stars to cite a Siliconera article on this:

Josh Tolentino of Siliconera wrote:
This version of Musashi is based on the appearance of the late Toshiro Mifune, star of Rashomon, The Seven Samurai, and Yojimbo. This is in keeping with the series’ practice of basing its protagonists on real-life actors. Onimusha: Warlords‘ protagonist Samanosuke Akechi was based on Takeshi Kaneshiro. Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny protagonist Jubei Yagyu was based on Yusaku Matsuda. Onimusha 3 saw Samanosuke’s return, and added Jacques Blanc, based on French actor Jean Reno.

So nice touch although I admit I didn't see that Siliconera article from a year ago. Anyway, can't wait to see this anime!!!
