Fantastic series. One I have watched multiple times, and still will watch again repeatedly. I think that is the mark of a classic. It never gets old.
Hoping they will release the movie, over here in the west, on BluRay. It is not filler, but a true sequel to the first season. Happy to know there is going to be a second season. Going to have to look for that Special, but based on the title, it probably is a spoof or some culinary episode that is not important to the show. |

It's true the special is not important to the plot of the show, but as a huge Tanya fan it was great getting a brief taste of that world again. 17 minutes well spent, imo.

Thank you Tony K for the new posting as it caught my eye wondering what was new. While nothing new yet, it caused me to re-watch the Movie and I had forgotten enough that it was like seeing it for the first time all over again. When they announced S2 in 2021 as in "aggressive production" I had hopes that it might have finished, sadly not yet apparently. Still, the exploration of how human nature can lead to history repeating despite wishes and actions to the contrary is as engrossing as ever. Can't wait for more...

I was doing a little research into the animation studio, Nut, and actually discovered that since the Tanya movie (in 2019), they've only done one other major project, Deca-Dence (TV) (in 2020). But they did the film Blue Giant that came out this past February and are lined up to do Fall '23's upcoming Bullbuster and co-produce (with Production I.G.) FLCL: Shoegaze.
There was basically a 3-year gap of big projects between Deca- and Giant, so maybe they finally fixed whatever financial or workforce woes they had and are starting to make their comeback. I feel the three things they're working on, this year, is a good sign we might actually get to see that second season of Tanya pretty soon . |
