I've thought for a long time that if there's anyone who can do the Battle Angel Alita franchise justice, It's James Cameron. Although, I doubt he'll give it the same amount of attention as Avatar.

I will take Cameron's statement here with as many grains of salt as I took Jon Landau's statement that we will get Blu Ray releases of The Abyss and True Lies this year.
That means many grains of salt. Many, many grains of salt.

Everytime I see James Cameron's name in media, it informs me how much of a hard worker he is. Like he's still directing and producing films and he's an oceanographer too? At his big age? That's admirable to me.
Anyway, is there any progress with that Terminator anime with Production I.G?

The Abyss and True Lies are still not on blu-ray.
Edit: I see I was not the first to bring them up.

People said the same thing when he announced he was doing battle angel alita years ago and doubted him, but he delivered. people doubted him when he made titanic and it was great. they doubted him with Avatar to fail and it turned great again. They doubted him in Avatar way of water again he did great again.
James Cameroon is one of the few people left in hollywood that when he states he will deliver something he delivers, granted it may take longer than initially stated but that is the price of quality over quantity, something the rest of Disney and majority of hollywood and definitely the industry in japan needs to take note off.

Ok but he's also doing like a dozen Avatar movies for the rest of the decade so we might not be seeing this till like 2035 and will anyone still care then?

Franchises that had successful comebacks decades later:
Top Gun Maverick Took 36 years and people Cared
Marry Poppins Returns: 54 years
Ghostbusters: Afterlife: 32 years
Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle:21 years
Avatar Way of Water:13 years
Tron Legacy: 28 years
My Big Fat Greek Wedding: 14 years
You can have a sequel come out decades later and people will still come and see it provided you have the formulas that made the previous movies great, good writing, respect of the canon and no alternative motivations and revisions that distract and deviate from the plot
He did the first Battle Alita Angel Movie between Avatar 1 and 2 while working on both projects and Avatar 3 has already most of the scenes filmed as it was shot same time as A2 back to back.
Ok seriously, why are you focusing on so much negativity, Many Directors/Producers can work on multiple projects at the same time. Take it easy.

I'll tolerate more lame blowhard Avatar movies if it means getting more awesome Battle Angel movies.

As a key point of order, Robert Rodriguez directed Battle Angel (from a screenplay initially written by Cameron) because Cameron got too busy with making Avatar 2.
If Cameron's decided he actually wants to be more directly involved in making sequels to it? Sure, whatever, I'll just expect to wait another couple decades to see them and be pleasantly surprised at any faster turnaround.

His name is James, James Cameron
The bravest pioneer
No budget too steep, no sea too deep
Who's that?
It's him, James Cameron
James, James Cameron explorer of the sea
With a dying thirst to be the first
Could it be? Yeah that's him!
James Cameron

Took 20 years to get that Alita movie made. Wasn't worth it.

Sure - 16 years later. And then only with someone else directing it. That's why fans are skeptical.
Still, I really liked the movie that was finally produced, and will eagerly watch the sequels if they ever get made. Just not going to hold my breath on them coming out in any kind of timely fashion.

Can I take that to me he will do what he has wanted to do since the 90s, and direct an adaptation of Alita? Because he's still not directed a single Alita Movie to this day.
