2022 was a year of many greats passing away. I kept up with all the news on who passed away, but to click on the article then scroll down knowing that I would see Kazuki Takahashi and Jason David Frank, two people I consider GOAT's in their field (manga and Power Rangers) and have the most impact on me, was a painful feeling that I didn't want to feel. I still haven't gotten over those two. That's how much they meant to me.
Thank you Kaz and JDF for creating and executing greatness in your works. |

RIP. Which one(s) hit you the hardest? Off the top of my head while still going through the list Kevin Conroy AKA THE BATMAN.

Billy Kametz still hits me hard. I got to meet him at a con in December 2021. I still regret never getting a picture with him. :c
I went to a panel where he kicked convention attendee's butts in Smash Bros. 1000/10 would get my ass handed to me again. What a one of a kind dude. :c |

Takahashi for sure then Jason David Frank
*i don't know if you'd call it odd or just sad irony how a big name comic artist has died each year for the past several years. YuGiOh 2022 (Takahashi) , Berserk 2021 (Kentaro Miura), Kimagure Orange Road 2020 (Izumi Matsumoto), Lupin 2019 (Monkey Punch), Steve Ditko/Stan Lee 2018, High School of the Dead 2017 (Daisuke Satō) Last edited by Sorraffy on Sun Jan 01, 2023 2:14 am; edited 1 time in total |

Michael Kopsa for me since I love Inuyasha and Mobile Suit Gundam a lot. Goshinki and Char Aznable are gone. Plus there was Ooi from Death Note. He had such a cool voice that was underutilized. Wish he'd had the chance to voice Cooler in a Canadian version of Dragon Ball. RIP
Bill Knight too since I heard him in GITS - SAC. Another underappreciated talent is gone. I knew he was getting up there, but still... RIP, Chief Aramaki. |

Although I've hardly seen an episode of the English Power Rangers since the '90s, I think Jason David Frank is the one that hit me hardest. Considering he seemed to be somewhat active in the martial arts scene and seemed to be in good health, I just didn't expect that news anytime soon and Tommy was my favorite male ranger as a kid (Trini was my absolute favorite, for extra sadness).
But Kevin Conroy, Pat Carroll, and Angela Lansbury were also quite devastating. Batman: TAS, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, The Last Unicorn, and Murder She Wrote were all staples of my TV as a child. Ushima and Ikumi also hit pretty hard. I was re-reading Tokyo Mew Mew in preparation for the new anime adaptation when Ikumi was announced and had only finished watching all of G Gundam for the first time about a month before Ushima was announced. "Flying in the Sky" is a regular part of my anisong playlists, but it's a little bittersweet now. Rest in peace. Last edited by Triltaison on Sun Jan 01, 2023 12:59 am; edited 2 times in total |

Every year it blows my damn mind that all of these deaths happened in the past 12 months. I'm still not over Kevin Conroy.

Mia Ikumi was a very hard loss. Gone way, way too soon. Kazuki Takahashi as well. On the English dub side, Billy Kametz was unbelievably tragic and I was also sorry to see Michael Kopsa leave us too soon. And I’ll really miss hearing William Frederick Knight as every other old anime dude.

Well considering Saki Nitta was a personal friend of mine… Yeah. Love you Saki. Miss you every day. |

Ichiro Mizuki, a true legendary figure in the anime music business. I'll never forget the many fantastic songs over the years. A sad farewell to Mizu King. |

Never thought it'd hit me that hard, but Billy Kametz's passing left me in a legit depression bout for days.
He was, and will always be, Ferdinand von Aegir. |

Aniki lived his life to the full right to the end.
It was sadder having seen Ushima-san live in 2016 and then hearing of his passing before his 56th birthday. From: https://twitter.com/ushima/status/1538635474864345088

Takahashi and Abe hit the hardest. A legendary mangaka and one of the strongest leaders Japan ever had. Both deaths were sudden, tragic, and not from natural causes or illness. It was truly shocking finding out about both of them and the circumstances. I hope they both can rest in power knowing they've helped shape so many people's lives with their work and lives.

Honestly, even Abe's death disturbed me, and I didn't like the guy.
2022 was a disgrace. Let's hope 2023 is better. |
