Gotta say I liked Part 1 more due to the several fights. I got bored of Abigail as a villain as Dark Schneider seemed to talk more than fight. The fact that Dark Scheneider becomes a torso who somehow still does comedy was kinda hit of fail. Still, for me the worst part of this part is the attempt to make romance between the protagonist and the redhaired girl (I barely remember names). It was so forced especially since they barely knew each. There was an exception the kid that actually had a bond with the girl but it's never explored.

The dub seems fine for the most part, but I can't get past Kyle McCarley as Dark Schneider. I'm not a fan of the term miscast. as I feel actors should be able to branch out into vastly different roles, but Kyle just does not have the voice for Dark Schneider.

I was amazed to find out his original dub voice was Darran Norris of all people.

Wow, you beat me to it. I am normally a dub guy, but this is strictly a sub show, while I will agree with AJ on some of the ancillary characters, Dark Schneider was a complete bust on the English side. There are some female VAs that would have matched Kishou Taniyama's heavy metal screeching far better than Kyle's "cool bruh" delivery. Frankly, David Coverdale or W.A. Rose (both of whose bands are referenced) aren't doing much right now and would have been perfect for the role. Kyle not only lacks the volume and tone but trades Kishou's F**k the world attitude for millenial snark and it does not fit the character at all.

but you can't be surprised they use this cast. after all a majority if not all of the VAs from the original Bastard OVA have retired and no longer do VA work anymore (excluding Steve Blum who was the original voice of Garra, Wendel Lee who ironically was Yoko in the original and Richard Epcar who voiced Abagail)
though as someone who will never have their talent, i cant judge for it personally sounds great in my view.
and more importantly, we should be glad there is even a remake of bastard in the first place considering that the main money maker for anime companies these days are either the shonen jump type series like my hero academia & OP or LN adaptations whether its overlord, danmachi , devil is a part timer or the crapload of isekai adaptations like SAO and others.
especially when other high-octane anime adaptations had over the top fanservice/ sexual content completely went bust (LOOKING AT YOU REDO OF HEALER, WORDS END HAREM & HAREM IN THE LABRYNTH)

I can't say I disagree with anything here, especially concerning the pacing, but knowing that the source material gets even crazier has me both a bit concerned and definitely intrigued.
It's still a really fun time, and honestly closer to Inuyasha than Yashahime has been, for anyone wanting a show with a loud-mouth male and a woman who doesn't take his crap.

I thought Kai Harn sounded whack at first in the dub, until she started moaning.
