What a shame. I have fond memories of emulating RCR along with reading a long-since dead sprite comic about it called River City High. I even have a DVD copy of a silly live-action fan-movie called River City Rumble. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiSgKtI5Ohs
RIP Yoshida. You left a big mark in the gaming world. |

I always thought it was Yoshihisa Kishimoto, the creator of the Double Dragon franchise, the one behind those games.

Kishimoto did launch the Kunio-kun franchise with the game that became Renegade, and he and Yoshida were both directors on the game that became Super Dodge Ball. However, Kishimoto was not directly involved with the game that became River City Ransom, while Yoshida was. |

Considering River City Girls came out just a few years ago, and the sequel is almost out, and most people know the connection to Ransom, I'd say RCR is pretty widely known these days. At least among beat 'em up fans. |
