Are you kidding me? Usually the price are suppose to decrease with passing years not increase.

Not that it really matters much as honestly the PS5 has been massive dissapointment with lack of new games and way overpriced items. Despite being a sony fanboy since the ps1 i think im done with this console.

Same. I've been with Sony since I was a kid but this price increase is like they are trying to kill themselves. If they added real backwards compatibility (putting the disc in) it would be a game changer. The way things are going it's best to just wait for and see what the PS6 is cause this is a joke console.

Man, here in Argentina a dollar is worth 300 pesos, and it's going to get worse due to inflation problems, the minimum wage is aproximately $50,000 and a PlayStation 5 costs $300,000 in an official retailer. Gaming is really an expensive hobby, that's why I haven't got a new console since the PS2 back in the mid 2000s. I think I just keep on watching Let's Plays, it's much more economic Laughing

Voting has its consequences, if you don't want your fancy northern countries to become latinamerica then don't vote for politicians who have the same way of thinking as theirs.

50 €? Seriously? That's pretty steep.

I already own a PS5, but if I had to decide on buying one now, I'd go for a XBOXSX instead.
This is unacceptable.

No, Sony. Just... no.

Was literally talking to my dad today about how we thought a PS5 isn't worth the pricetag because the games are so ridiculously expensive. Now the console itself gets more pricey too? Yeah no thanks.

Uh, there's only two countries "north" of Latin America, and one of them isn't getting the price increase.

What!? This has nothing to do with politicians, this is more about the chip shortage (because of cryptocurrency) and an ongoing pandemic. Politicians can play an effect on this, but that normally takes a couple of years (like 4 to 5 years). I have no idea why you bring that up

Anyway, maybe I should get a PS5 before the price go up over here

Most people who want and can afford the console are still going to get the console despite the price increase because the console has been in shortage. So in the short term at least, Sony is not going to be affected by the price increase.

The economy is overheated for the stimuli packages and the increment in the price of energy come from the green energy push without a proper plan that dissimulated investment in dirt energy.

Companies are also hoarding money to have a war chest to survive the upcoming recession that the increment on the interest rates the governments are implementing to fix the first issue already mentioned.

The current economical chaos it's, at least, 80% occasioned by the economic politices that Europe, Asia and North America have implemented that could very well been planned by an Argentinean or Venezuelan politician.

I have no idea of what you mean with the chip shortage occasioned by crypto, the increment in the cost of energy plus the crash of crypto made mining unprofitable, so the second hand market is filled with cheap used cards, you can find videos from Jay, Linux and Paul talking about how cheap video cards are now if you wish.

If you could readily get a PS5 in Australia, this might actually mean something.

So ... by that odd line of thought, Europe should vote less like Latin America and more like a country that didn't get the consequences of a PS5 price increase ...

... like [checks notes] the United States.

One might rethink misusing the PS5 price increase to make a poltical point.

This thing was released almost 2 years ago and you can't even buy it for the current MSRP.
