That's a very scary series of updates. I hope he prioritizes his health.

At this point, maybe he should see if he can find someone else to take over for him, at the very least for the art. He shouldn't have to suffer like this just to keep his fans happy.

He can always outsource the drawing to some other artist.

But it will not be in Togashi style, or he was done that way earlier when his back problems started.
Togashi literally wants to control everything about his works and even Shueisha WSJ editors are not in place to demand otherwise, so that's why we are still here with the current "release schedule" of HxH instead of well, straight end of it.

Get well? No he does not need to get well, he needs to rest indefinitely. He can't go on like this and its pretty obvious based on all these updates his health is deteriorating. He needs a long rest and just live out of the rest of his days in retirement. If he stops now, maybe he can prolong his life a little bit more but i worry that if he continues to push himself like this. He might die before he has a chance to reach an old age.
In any case, I admire his strength to keep on going as a mangaka but clearly he's reach his limits and he needs to just pass on his work to someone else. No one will think any less of him if he does and I understand its a pride thing. He doesn't want to relinckuish the rights to his life's work and not able to finish his masterpiece but clearly illness has over taken him. Its the cycle of life and a bad card that he was dealth, but what can you do?

Oh dear
Back and spine problems can be degenerative, it cost an idol her career last month. Also, retirement from the one thing they love can kill faster than you think.

I always get shat on whenever I say this (doesn't stop it from being true, though), but Togashi is keeping on this horrid pace out of stubborness and a sense of artistic integrity that honestly is hurting him more and more. Sui Ishida did that Hisoka spinoff that IIRC Togashi admired, so the possibility of some other artist doing the art is a plausible one.
Also, let's not pretend that Togashi's art is worth all the pain he's going through, because it hasn't looked good since before the Chimera Ant arc, and polishing it for the volume releases doesn't count given the also horrid gap between releases.

I mean some modern shonen fans don't even know, but Hxh is one of the shonen's that was at the height of the late 90's to early 2000's era of shonen manga along with giants like Naruto, one piece, ZATCH BELL hitman reborn, Bleach, etc. It was a glorious time and what we used to considered the BIG 3 era. It is 2022 now. We have been through how many generations of shonen at this point? With the exception of one piece, all of these works have ended and even the next generation works have ended like fairy tail, Promised neverland, My hero is just about to end, Attack on titan, etc. Currently were probably in whats like the 4th generation from the late 90's of shonen anime and Hxh is still in its early to mid stages. Gon is in no way shape or form a respective hero of his manga yet or a master hunter, nore is the final battle even remotely close to approaching. They have a whole entire dark continent to explore. I mean when you look at stories like the holy trinity of manga, naruto, bleach, one piece, how far they have all came, Hxh is that little project that just couldn't keep up and that is all because of togashi's declining health.
Had he transfered his work to some one else, the manga it self would probably be finished years ago and probably ALOT farther then what we could even imagine, considering alot of these big time shonen publications were upwards into like the 500 chapters at least, some even larger. Its just sad and I hate to see this manga be subject to this kind of fate but what can you do. He needs to just let go of his pride and give it to someone else. There is no way in hell this manga is going to finish before this man kicks the bucket. It is just not going to happen at this pace.

Toyotarou says hi. I feel like Akira Toriyama is one of the few older artists who really got it right in choosing a successor for his manga.

While I understand the underlying point you're trying to get at, I feel like Toyotarou also misses the mark in a lot of areas Toriyama was able to move in on such as paneling, expression, and even just the general flow of how Toriyama would express the fight scenes within those panels. It's pretty noticeable if you compare some of Dragon Ball Super's Manga fights and OG/Z's manga fights.
On the subject of HxH, that still doesn't really address Togashi's disinterest in letting someone else take over, or even mitigate some of his shortcomings that comes with drawing a manga.

Given how infamous work culture is in Japan when it comes to the health of workers in certain fields I’d be careful with this phrasing.

All that said it’s had a much better go of it than something like Beet The Vandal Buster.

And if he keeps this mindset up, he's going to work himself to an early grave like Miura did

Toyotaro's not really an apples-to-apples comparison to Togashi, though. There are tons of mangaka who have hired other artists to draw sequels, spin-offs, & the like to their manga (which is what Dragon Ball Super is), but I can't even think of a single example where a manga (as in a single continuous series) drawn by one person is then transitioned over to another artist. Sure there's Berserk, but even that is at least being carried on by Miura's studio, i.e. the people who had already been working with Miura for years as his assistants, & not a singular main artist who's coming in from the "outside". In a case like Togashi's, I can't think of an instance where a mangaka decides to let someone else take over the drawing when they are left unable to do so, while the mangaka continues on as the writer; it just doesn't happen.
When a mangaka is left unable to continue making their manga, 99.9% of the time it simply results in the manga being left unfinished. After all, manga is almost exclusively creator-owned, so it makes sense that the mangaka wants to have complete control over their creation, unless it was created as a collaborative effort from the start. Even then, though, you can't just replace one side of the collaboration & continue on like that (see: Act-Age or Beet the Vandel Buster), because that's just not how manga has ever really worked.

Toyotaro would be a pretty terrible example for other artists replacing Togashi, since his art is pretty stiff and bland compared to Toriyama's vivid art in DBZ, and overall when I read one of his chapters, I feel like I'm reading some fanmade doujinshi.

Because there's nothing to adress beyond his health problems. That should be a priority instead of his (more and more apparent) pride and some sort of artistic integrity he has about his own work which, while understandable, is gonna burn him out the way Miura was or other artists of his level. His disinterest shouldn't supersede his health.
