Finally, a Japanese company gets it, and uploads straight to the lucrative realm of YouTube without going through those pesky license/royalty-paying middlemen instead. Sony is going to DESTROY Crunchyroll and Funimation with this move, just like AniLog DESTROYED them a couple of years ago!

Yeah, I've been waiting for a company to try and break up the Crunchyroll monopoly and it seems like Sony is finally gonna be the one to do it!

Kurozuka's first episode is incredible. The rest of the series is much more of a mixed bag, unfortunately.

Did Sony not buy those companies? I may be just misremembering.

Yeah, I think that's the joke.
Even if Kurozuka and the others weren't all that good, it was an interesting attempt from Sony to go for something more in the vein of the violent and gory action that dominated the western anime market in the early/mid 90s. And it was nice to see someone still throwing some dubs to Ocean.

Kurozuka started strong but faded fast.
Hey, Sony, I have an idea for your next release. How about Nodame Cantabile?

I think their license to that expired a long time ago. It wasn't a show they'd regularly rotate on Crackle. Astroboy, Kurozuka, Viper's Creed, Ultraviolet: Code 44 and the Marvel Anime shows all have physical releases from either Sony or Mill Creek (through their deal with Sony). Not the case with Cantabile. It's also a Noitamina series, whereas the rest were produced for Animax (which Sony owns).

They did carry it on Crackle back in the day with the English dub from Ocean.
