let's Fuckinnnnnnnnnng go man. It's looking pretty as fudge. Even if I prefer the S1 art style, this one good damn smooth. The wait was [expletive] worth it.
New VAs (though one of them isn't NEW at all) are actually Pretty good for the type of character they will be playing. Specially (S4/LN spoiler) the Old hag.
And, If Miyu Tomita's OP is anything like her Nana's OP, then I am all down for it. And, Our Home resident Sweet Arms ED is gonna be alright, I know.
BUT FML, Now there one more anime for watching in Spring 2022.

And with the introduction of Nia and Mukuro the Spirit cast is finally complete and the story will start moving towards the end game.

You mean the 4th season will be the final season?

Hitomi Nabatame still playing a nun-girl and being part of a Harem at her age! I love it.
It'll be weird not having sweet ARMS doing the Opening, but Miyu Tomita is a worthy successor.
Probably the most dramatic visual overhaul of the series, but it looks good.

I don't think that's possible unless they really rush it, but at least we're getting to all the main Spirits in the anime.

That would be impossible without skipping an ungodly level of content. Excluding the spinoffs there are 22 vols of the main story. Season 3 ended with a VERY condensed vol 12. I estimate this season will finish at least vol 15 or 16.

Given the LNs ended a while ago it probably is the final season, but there is no way it will be able to adapt everything that is left. S4 will probably adapt volumes 13, 14, and 15. But 16 and 17 are Kurumi-centric and she is probably the most popular DAL character so I'm guessing they will try and include those too.
Most (not all) LN adaptations do 3 or 4 episodes per volume. First 3 episodes will probably cover volume 13 (Nia arc). That leaves 9 or 10 episodes. Mukuro is volumes 14 and 15, and Kurumi is 16 and 17. If it is a 12-episode season then one of them will get 4 episodes and the other 5; if it is a 13-episode season then they will probably get 5 episodes each. They would still have 5 volumes to completely adapt the series.
When S4 starts airing it will have been over 2 years since the final volume came out. Unless this is 2 or split cour I doubt we will see those last 5 volumes adapted. Stranger things have happened, but I think it is unlikely.

This series is sort of in weird territory. They've come so far that a complete adaptation seems like it could be in the cards despite the LN being over. Remember, there's still Date a Bullet which got movies last year and I think there's another game coming out. I'm not sure how much the completion of the light.novels is going to hold this back; we could have.another Strike the Blood scenario. This show was getting green lit for more seasons in an Era when that was rare. Sequels are far more common now so old rules might not apply

Nia's and Mukuro's arcs take volumes 13 to 15. The issue is that after that, we start the true final arc of the story. I can't think of any good point to stop a season anywhere from volume 16 to the final one, 22 (Except maybe 20, but that would still be an incomplete ending). I think that if they want to adapt everything, they need to make Season 5 a two-cour.

I'm looking forward to this season. I have my hopes up that its success can greenlit a complete anime adaptation of the books.

Nani?! Bakana! sA aren't performing the OP song? What is this breaking of tradition? This is like when SnK had Linked Horizon do the ED song after they did all the past OP's.

There is still a game called Date A Live spirit pledge that is alive and running in China. It is largely the reason why Date A Live Season 3 anime got made, well before they had global users. Also Date A Live has much better merchandise sales than the average Kadokawa anime, so I kind of find it hard to believe Kadokawa will kill Date A Live production in favour of some no name new isekai, especially since they promise a lot of new anime. It only takes like 24 episodes to wrap up the series which tbh isn't too hard. Of course no guarantees.

It only takes like 24 episodes and perhaps a movie to wrap up the series so it will be kind of a waste if they don't even touch volume 16. Not to mention the Spirit Pledge game is alive and running, especially in China. Date A Bullet will probably never get a proper anime adaptation because that is just stretching it. Date A Live also still has figures coming so there is still money to be made. This isn't a Re Zero case where the LN series is so long, a full adaptation is likely never possible. Kadokawa and Geek Toys also need to make money so it will be odd for them to shut down a series that still has above average merchandise sales. They even bravely mentioned the 10th anniversary. Even if the franchise magically collapses, the light novels are like guaranteed to get fully released, and people can just catch up.
