The website's been really slow today and I keep getting the '500 internal server error' message. Please fix ASAP (if possible)

This has been true for the past week now. I've given up in disgust on a number of occasions.

This has been happening to me too, but only in the forums. Don't notice it browsing any other portion of the site

Hello everyone!
I messaged our awesome chief in charge of this! Please be patient for the update and/or message from him.

I can confirm an increase in 503 errors in the last week. Haven't found the cause yet.

Chiming in to say it's not just the forums for me. Lots of error messages, but also just long wait times that don't always end in an error page. It used to just be in the early hours, like 3-6 am PST, but it's expanded to general sludge at any hour, fwiw.
Always around the holidays, eh? Hope yours were somewhat restful before having to tackle a problem like this! At least things are still generally functional, even if we have to wait for it, so I can be patient (took me this long to even decide to see if it was on anyone's radar). Thanks!

I understand that not everyone will be available during the holidays but it’s just frustrating constantly seeing the error message

One thing I can report is that while browsing on my phone on another network during the holidays, I've gotten zero errors

Unfortunately "500" errors are not "unexpected" here:
Tracing the path to animenewsnetwork.com (104.23.132.4) on TCP port 80 (http), 30 hops max

Finally, finally, this is fixed.
The site has been mostly error-free for the past 7 hours.
That was one of the hardest bugs I've ever had to fix.

Back again
I've been having them for a month.
fast server
on Firefox (PC) and Edge (Laptop)
It helped to delete cookies, but didn't completely take care of the problems.

They've been a bit worse that usual today. We think we know the cause (The Yandex Bot is spidering the site pretty heavily, we think that's the cause).
Yandex ignores Robots.txt and has its own "webmaster tools" that you need to register for in order to tell it's bot to chill out.
I think Dan is doing that right now.
