Discotek doesn't do simulcasts, and they're overflowing with work, as it is. Parts IV & V did receive simulcasts on Crunchyroll, which allowed Discotek to release those on home video, but now with Sony owning that company, that literally means that the only way Discotek would ever get Part 6 would be if Netfilx (or even Amazon) was to stream it. In fact, I think Sentai getting Lupin Part 6 could very well be a bit of a coup for them. It's entirely possible that TMS doesn't like the nigh-monopoly that Sony now has for the anime simulcasting market, so that company might start siding with Sentai/Hidive more from here on out, at least for new shows that'll get simulcasted. |

Oh don't get me wrong. I'm glad they are streaming it instead of the other guys but I was mostly referring to the physical side of things. I mean Sentai has great limited edition stuff but Discotek has great standard releases (Memories being a great example).

Considering what happened with Baki, that would have been a bad idea since TMS did nothing to get that dub out of Netflix Jail.
Plus there's a good chance TMS is doing most of the work again like with Parts 4, 5 & The First so you'll still get your TV dub cast back and Toonami airing plus Richard Epcar opened his big mouth again practically confirming the former. |

As for Sentai getting this, I'm fine with it. I absolutely love Discotek, but Sentai is totally fine as well. I'm just glad it's not Netflix. |

I just hope Epcar and the rest return for the dub, because having to be subjected to a Sentai dub is more than I can handle.

Here's hoping that they get the normal Lupin voice cast. I mean it's not unheard of for Sentai to have Bang Zoom! VAs in their dubs, they got Christine Marie Cabanos back for the second season of Squid Girl and of course the second season K-ON and it's movie speaks for themselves.

I think you're right that its a bit of a coup for them. It also signals that their business is good enough that they now have the resources to land such a license, which is very good news. Here's hoping they beat the Sony juggernaut on some of the other important licensing that will be coming up. As for Discotek, frankly I'd rather they spend their resources rescuing older licenses and bringing in titles that haven't previouisly been released. They have become my favorite Legacy Anime publisher. Looking forward to watching Lupin III Part 6 on HiDive! |

I guess I'm happy for Sentai to get something major like Lupin, the only concern would be getting the English dub cast back, although since Richard Epcar loves leaking stuff it sounds like we might not need to worry about that.

This is interesting. Lupin is a pretty decent get for Sentai and isn't something that would they got because other companies probably passed on or was something "edgy" so Sentai could get attention that way. I also have to assume that Lupin isn't the cheapest acquisition out there.
I'll be curious to see what they do for a dub, assuming there is one. Sentai has been willing to outsource to maintain a cast, but I don't take that for granted. |

Seriously doubt that this a coup. It’s most likely a case of Sentai miraculously outbidding CR on something (probably at the cost of their Fall 2021 budget).

Honestly highly doubt that Sentai could even come close to outbidding Sony or AT&T. My guess would be the other companies passed for whatever reason, though I'm sure there's a lot of context here we're all missing. |

Has any cast worked under more licensing companies than the Lupin cast has? They've been at this for eighteen years now! This cast outlasted the company that cast them in the first place! |

Both K-On and Squid Girl were done at different times, Sentai used to have no problem outsourcing to Bang Zoom when they worked on the former but with the latter, they had already stopped using them hence why Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya and Rozen Maiden: Zurückspulen were done in-house with everyone recast. Christine Cabanos had to fly to Houston herself to participate or they would have replaced her too like they did with everyone else in the season 2 dub. |

I'm guessing I'll have a seasonal reason to keep my HiDive subscription next season and maybe the season after, depending on part 6's length, which should be 2 cour, but ya never know
