It's nice to see the core OG!Cast was able to come back to bring this saga to a close.

So what has been happening with Allison Keith? This is the first time I've seen her in anything since Amagi Brilliant Park.

This is startling! It’s not just the same cast from the previous Rebuild dubs either; it’s a mix-and-match of actors from the ADV and Manga dubs with totally new ones. Shocked that Amanda Winn Lee will be doing Rei again after all these years! And it looks like Aoba, Ibuki, Fuyutsuki and at least one other character will have the same voices as they did in the original End of Evangelion dub.
I wonder who made the call to bring back the original cast rather than go with the Netflix ones? There’s been a lot of speculation over whether it was Anno/Khara or VSI/Netflix that replaced them in the first place. This means either Khara heard the negative feedback about replacing the cast and changed their minds, or Amazon did. I’m startled because I fully expected Anno to be intransigent on this, but it looks like he may have actually heard the fans. No offense to the Netflix VAs, but I think the people who’ve performed these characters for 25 years deserve to have the final word on their English-language voices.
Very, VERY hopeful that GKids is redubbing the original series with this basically perfect cast. Would love to have a final, definitive English dub that addresses the flaws of previous ones and stays consistent between the original series and Rebuilds.

Same here, I was really starting to think we wouldn't get them back for the finale and well said this is a particularly unique situation it's not like I haven't loved many of those other VAs in plenty of other anime dubs but Eva and these OG VAs have such a connection when I'm watching after all this time.
Hmmm, no idea if they'll actually do it but, like you said, it'd be awesome if they could get to redub the original series one more time before the blu-rays.

Alright, now, local blu-ray, when?
Or are they planning on another decimaled 4.44 re-release with improvements in a year that we're better off waiting for?

I think it's a combination of different factors. Given Khara's previous over-reaction to Funimation's initial dub of 3.0, Khara and Anno seem very hyper phobic to any negative press or fandom criticism even if it's kind of overblown which I feel like a lot of the criticism of the Netflix dub of Eva was overblown and Anno's reaction to the original 3.0 dub was certainly overblown. At the same time they probably still want to maintain some sort of continuity with the Funimation dub of the movies but with greater and stricter oversight, hence they still brought back their same in-house translator from the Netflfix dub. And these movies are also a different AU from the TV show so in that way I can see the reasoning to have a different cast. Like it's Asuka Sohru Shikinami and not Asuka Sohru Langley. I would not like to see a third dub of the Eva TV series that erases the Netlix dub which would be just as disrespectful that cast and their fans who the cast did the best they could with the script they were given and are also talented professional actors. And their already exists the original ADV dub that Gkids could just slap both the ADV and Netflix dub on the set and then there would be no need for these pointless dub wars. I'm glad to see the original cast back to have one last chance to play these characters though I also would have liked to have seen the Netflix cast brought back, though I think if fans are hoping for a more loose dub like ADV's and stuff like "Third Children" to be dropped will be disappointed because it's still Dan Kanemitsu adapting the scripts.

Evangelion was recently released on BD in Germany,Italy and France and they only included their respective classic dubs rather than the Netflix ones.
It's very likely GKids will either use the old ADV dub(and Manga Entertainment in the case of the classic movies) or simply record a new one like Sentai did to Baki and Vinland Saga BD releases

I was never really impressed with the Netflix dub of Neon Genesis Evangelion it came off to me as a fairly decent effort but nothing outstanding. The two main performances that I felt were the most noteworthy was from Carrie Keranen's Misato and JP Karliak's Fuyutsuki. I'm quite fond of Ray Chase as actor but he was miscast as Gendo and Clifford Chapin as Kaworu was a miscast as well. I'm looking forward to re-visiting the Rebuild film series with this brand new redub midnight can't get here fast enough.

I don't remember if there was anything official but it seems like she doesn't do it much anymore. I remember the first time I'd heard her back in a long time was the first Rebuild movie, which is why I remember it was so pleasantly surprising to me when they managed to get her back for Misato (along with the other suddenly returning VAs) when Funi originally announced the dub cast for the first Rebuild movie back then.

All the movies should be live right now by the way - it's officially Friday somewhere (just confirmed they're available from where I am anyways)

She’s basically not in the business anymore except to reprise old roles. Which is unfortunate, because I always enjoy her performances. I also loved her as Yui in Megazone 23.

I thought Brina Palencia voiced Rei in the first 3 rebuilds...?

The article is referring to the Amazon cast for the films, not the Funimation one.
