Not surprised at all. MAPPA has taken on so many big properties at the same time. Figured that came with a heavy cost. Now they have the Chainsawman anime in the pipeline which will require another high quality production.

Japanese work conditions in action. I know a Japanese teacher who would post about staying at work for days after she is done. It depresses me knowing so much stuff I like is produced under crunch, and not way to solve it due to being a society problem rather than one company. Japan is a lovely place to visit, but there work culture scares me from ever living there.

Yikes. I like several series MAPPA has worked on, but they really need to cut back on how much anime they're currently making. I already know how brutal the anime industry can be for its employees, but at least there are studios like Kyoto Animation and ufotable who only limit themselves to one or two anime a year.

Shame to hear that. Not going to pretend to be shocked about it,since almost every studio is like this.

Like other users in this thread have said before me, I'm not surprised that MAPPA is overworking its employees. However, they're especially guilty of this because they seem to be producing around three, four, or even five new anime series a year in recent times, which are way too many. They should definitely start cutting back on the amount of anime they produce per year to reduce the risk of overworking employees.

This is especially terrible when an anime studio is producing two or more anime series during the same season and all at the same time. Cloverworks comes to mind for me as a shining example of this; The Promised Neverland's second season, Wonder Egg Priority, and Horimiya were all airing during this year's winter anime season and I wouldn't be surprised if quite a few animators were extremely stressed due to all the workload they had to deal with.

I think Wonder Egg Priority definitely got hit the most with a difficult production.

I wouldn't be surprised if more studios are like this. Although MAPPA's multiple projects have always worried me, and so this is much a confirmation.

I'd love to hear if there's any news on animators praising the work conditions in the studio they're working in. I have read interviews on a good working ethics by producers, but not really the animators.

So nobody notice that TMS has three animes airing in spring anime season, these are: Fruits Basket final season, Megalo Box second season and Burning Kabadi.

TMS also has several subsidiary studios to help with animation vs MAPPA who I belive only has a couple of internal teams.

(Burning Kadadi also has Domerica on animation cooperation, but I digress)

Complaining online about the work conditions is fine, but they should really start protesting, or things will never change for real. If 80% of the workforce is unhappy this means there are serious problems.

Fans romanticizing labor exploitation do not help at all. I still remember the ridiculous hashtag #ThankYouMappa

"Fans" usually care only about one thing, the final product (and themselves of course). You can't expect they sympathise with exploited workers..
