Sui Ishida's artwork. <3

Ishida drew Attack on Titan protagonist Eren Jaegar (spelled "Yeager" in his tweet) ...

Eren's surname is spelled "Yeager" in the official English translation of the manga, too. It was specified by Isayama's editor. Funimation changed it to "Jaegar" for some reason. They also changed a bunch of other characters' names (Krista/Christa, Sasha Blouse/Sasha Braus, Darius Zackly/Dhalis Zachary, etc.), and they reversed Hange's given name and surname (that one really bugs me, lol).

To be fair, they probably wanted it to be more accurate to the original German. Jaeger is spelt that way in German(the movie pacific rim uses that spelling). Isayama probably changed it to make sure the world is not exactly Germany, but that is just a guess. Honestly, those changes do not bother me, the big annoyance is how people can never say if Reiner is said with any "er" or if it is said like Reina. Funimations dub seems to flip flop on that.

Well, it's actually spelled "Jäger" in German. Razz "Jaeger" and "Yeager" are both valid adaptations, though (I know a Mr. Yeager at my work). But yeah, it seems like Funimation made a lot of little changes to be more "accurate," which I find silly. I mean, it's a made-up fantasy world with a bunch of different influences, not just German. And when the show also has characters running around named Dot Pixis, Oluo Bozado, Traute Carven, and Nanaba... what's the point? LOL.

Re: the name pronunciations: It's disappointing to hear the dub isn't being consistent, but maybe that will be fixed for the Blu-ray/DVD release? I imagine they're in a rush to record everyone as fast as they can for the initial streaming dub.
