Let's also mention the genocide in Yemen, courtesy of the Saudis. |

And that without going with the gall of basically insulting the Japanese audience in the very same poster.
In the case you haven't read the Japanese poster and you don't know Japanese, the tagline says "Japanese people! This is Arab's entertaiment!" |

Not quite. The tagline starts with "Nihon-jin yo" with no exclamation mark, so it translates more as telling the Japanese viewers that "This is Arabian entertainment!", not that Japanese people are Arab people's source of entertainment. There's no insulting whatsoever to be found there. As for the film itself, I know it's been in development for a long time, as Kaoru Wada (who's doing the music for it) actually first showed a teaser years ago at Otakon during one of his panels, long before Jamal Khashoggi's murder. At the time it looked interesting, but in the time since it obviously isn't something I'll be actively going after to watch. |

That was a mistake on my part, since I wrote it too fast, I forgot to check the difference between Arabs (the people) and Arabian culture, not to mention that English is not my native language. In any case, my point stands, as the poster, in an admittedly pushy tone, is basically telling the audience that this is an Arab movie, when in fact all the animation was made in Japan, and only the story was written by Arabs. |

Yes, it's an Arabian-sourced story, so I think it's fair to call it "Arabian entertainment", because the story being told is distinctly Arabian, no matter where the animation itself comes from. I don't think it's being pushy at all, but at the same time advertising isn't meant to be subtle. |

It's an apparent reference to the Japanese poster tagline ("Hey Japan, This Is a Movie") for the Avengers movie that created a stir in Japan: https://twitter.com/kojima_hideo/status/231411502953922561 https://kotaku.com/the-avengers-tagline-stirs-up-controversy-in-japan-5934885 That tagline became such a humorous meme in Japan that other movies and shows have used poster taglines riffing on it in Japan, even Marvel itself: The Kirishima Thing Hey Hollywood, This Is a Japanese Movie OOO, Den-O, All Riders: Let's Go Kamen Riders Hey World, These Are Japanese Heroes!! Guardians of the Galaxy Hey Universe, Are These Heroes? Ninja Slayer Hey Japan, This Is a Ninja The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.: Reawakened Hey World, This Is Also Japanese Anime animenewsnetwork.com/news/2019-12-20/the-disastrous-life-of-saiki-k-reawakened-anime-posts-ad-spoofing-hollywood-blockbusters/.154580 |

OK, that makes sense. So it's just continuing a bit of a playful gag that Japanese movie ads have been doing for a bit.

I guess, in this case, the Arabs are the ones who are being insulted, knowing how the Japanese are very good in backhand, hidden insults.
