I guess it's that time for Sunrise (or a subsidiary) to try out a new Mecha IP.
I'm kinda getting more serious Buddy Complex vibes.

Build Divers Re:Rise was really good last year, plus they've probably been working on Tomino's Recognista G and Hathaway's Flash movies, and there's supposed to be a new Gundam 00 anime of some kind at some point. No doubt the pandemic slowed many of these down.

I'm not big on the mecha designs, but I'm always hungry for a good robot anime.
Sunrise Beyond pretty much hit the ball with last year's GBD Re Rise, so I kinda have hopes for this. The staff itself looks solid enough.

Story about an occupied Japan.
And already they are selling toys.
Interesting.

And it was just yesterday that I was thinking when will Sunrise release a new serious mecha anime. Not sure how serious it will be, but it appears my wish has been granted for now. The fact that the mech isn't CG ugly looking is a start.

Gundam Narrative came out in 2018. Yes though it's a movie.
Also as others stated there's Build Divers.
I would joke though that it was because IBO's second season was so bad if it was the last Gundam show/property we saw in nearly 4 years.

At this point i would be happy if any new Mech show would have a decent story and be fine to watch, i mean sure some of the older classics are still getting releases now and than like Gundam, Fafner, Macross etc but we have not had a decent new IP in years.
The last series i relatively liked quite well was Knights of Sidona but that was over half a decade ago.(coincidentally its getting a new movie release this year).
Darling in the Franxx had potential but than it turned into a mess. uff.
So i hope this goes well.

Wowowow is that a Mecha anime that use 2D is this possible ? Hope so because 3D in anime is trash.

It's "I can't believe it's not Gundam, Code Geass and a Brave Series" all at once!

Everything seems pretty normal for the "occupied by several countries" bit. These kids are going to take back Japan from what exactly? Or was I the only who looked at the partition map and thought "is it really worth it?"
Resources? Land? People? Split among several organizations? Why?
"Japan leads the world in the production of giant mech suit..."
Seeing how you'd have to import the supplies, there has to be an easier way.
As excuse plots go, this seems to be even more of an excuse than usual. At least Brittainia had the "It's Britain, that's the reason for colonies" reason going for it, this just seems even more trouble than that for what it's worth.
