I'll believe it when somebody confirms it's actually playing in theatres

If Japan starts taking things more seriously they could be fine to put it in theaters with no real risk. But as it stands Tokyo is still gaining a lot every day...

Time to face the piper then. The opening 10 minutes are as terrible as the last one. Sigh.
Good luck with Shin Ultraman Anno. Godzilla was shockingly great.

I'm more concerned as to who will get it in the US. Did Funi lose the whole license?

Had to turn the volume on that video down, pitch was too loud.

It's been so long, I honestly never expected for this to get a final film. The trailer tells us literally nothing which, after the surreal clusterfsck of 3 doesn't offer much incentive to see it.

Guess I was right on the fact the 3 previous films would be released to build up anticipation for this film.

I've loved all the Rebuild of Evangelion movies and I can't wait to see how it all ends. I just hope to avoid spoilers on social media before I get a chance to see it.

So, are the Evas skyboarding on aircraft carriers an homage to Eureka Seven?
More time will have elapsed between this film and the first rebuild of Evangelion (1.11?) than had passed between the premiere of Evangelion and that first rebuild film.

Funi never had the license for this one. Movies are generally handled individually, even if they're part of a series. I think the exception is those weird releases where it's like, six 45 minute theatrical films released a month apart each, like Broken Blade or Towanoquon. But yeah, Funimation had to license each of the previous three movies separately.
If I had to guess, the most likely other candidate to get it is Gkids. They might not use the same dub cast (hopefully they would), but at least their releases are really easy to reliably get.

Alright! I can't wait!
I'm also hoping that the English localization sticks to the same VA and translators for consistency's sake.
Wanna see this in theaters. Don't know how things will be next year, but with Hollywood running around scared and shoving things onto their streaming services, Anime distributors should capitalize on the empty theater slots the same way indie flicks are doing and finally I and friends can organize a weekend to see anime on the big screen versus the few limited showings they have in the middle of the week, with the exception of stuff by Shinkai and Ghibli.
But even those weekend shows are sold out quickly, so maybe theaters will do wider distribution of anime, provided the government doesn't keep on being allowed to abuse their power.
