I wasn't really a fan of it as a kid, but maybe I'll give it another chance if they are going to make a new anime.

More like this year is the year of comeback announcements! And I love it! I can't believe it!
One of the most influential manga series of my life is coming back! Since the manga already found a proper end I hope we get to see enough arcs beyond the already existing ones from the previous anime without any filler stories. |

Oh man I wonder if their gonna keep the dub names.
I love referring to Hao as Zeke, it’s so fun especially the confused reactions from people unfamiliar to the dub. |

One of the first anime I've ever watched and now it's going to have a Remake that's faithful to the manga. Damn it's been a while

The first thing that came to mind after reading the title was this article: animenewsnetwork.com/news/2017-02-15/shaman-king-creator-turned-down-new-anime-plans-because-original-cast-music-could-not-be-used/.112244
So, did he finally get what he wanted or did he make a compromise? |

Aw hell yeah! I hope the episode count is high enough to keep the adaptation from being too rushed, unlike Karakuri Circus, but I'm really glad we'll get to see the manga's real ending from the kanzenban edition animated.
As I recall, a new Shaman King anime came very close to happening years ago, but it fell through because the production committee refused to bring back the voice actors from the previous adaptation, whom Takei insisted on. I wonder who caved this time around. Last edited by Zhou-BR on Thu Jun 11, 2020 10:59 pm; edited 1 time in total |

I can't believe it, I thought Takei said he didn't want one because he was fine with the original (or he only wanted the original VAs? something like that). I'm absolutely over the moon, this series was my jam in middle school.

Never watched the original series or read the original manga, so seeing it will be an adaptation of a complete series is already appealing

He's been fine with the idea of a new anime adaptation, but his conditions were that they use the original anime's OST and get the original voice cast back. The issue was that several members of the voice cast are more famous (expensive) than they were 20 years ago. So either they were finally able to work out getting everyone back or he caved and is allowing them to recast now. |

Makes sense, even if I was hoping for a few others. Ah well, let’s see what they can do. |

20 years later and we finally get a sequel? Damn can't say I saw that coming.
The Shaman King manga was actually really good, so I kind of hope they finish off the OG series by at least spending 5-10 episodes finishing where it left off.... Otherwise people who only watched the show are going to be really damn confused. Hah |
