can I have a TLDR on whether the dude failed or if they complied with his desires? Not caring much either way, but curious.

They're essentially saying the matter will be presented to whatever committee the Government happens to pick for the Classification Regulation review. For when that will result in anything, or whether or not they even pick the the issue for discussion, is anyone's guess. Hopefully cooler heads prevail and everyone realizes how out of bounds that senator was on this matter... |

I agree with the classifiers, that they're doing their job. "Plunderer" in Australia is rated MA15+ in Australia and it's full of constant sexual assault and pretends it's funny (if its the good guy doing it). However, the classification is about right. I rely on MAL and AnimeNews to help me classify if its garbage, but unfortunately an episode of this poor quality show slipped through my filter

after getting a whiff of an exploitation movie suggested in the last discussion here about this senator, I can clearly see there is a distinction between reality and fiction blatantly obvious in a cartoon compared to an acted movie. There, the "line" can be really blurred. Still have plenty of skepticism about anime fetishes but I feel like even at some of its worst in nukige content, it doesn't really compare to what I saw in one movie. |

Surprised seeing SAO:EE getting brought up out of all parts of SAO. Didn't recall anything that bad in it that wasn't already from the original SAO season. Were the TV seasons rated lower so they got overlooked?

Do they even realize all the free advertising they’re giving these anime?

He got told to eat shit. + it's a public statement rather than a letter, and "aware of concerns" rather than naming the person who raised them. A worm, beneath their notice. + he got told the review process, but he wasn't told that it welcomed public input or that his thoughts would be considered. + "we welcome this review" -> this review will validate our choices. (Also, by pointing him at the guidelines they've shifted the battle to one on which they're the experts and where he needs to get state and federal by-in...) |

Not sure about the context since I missed the last discussion but in Australia something being fiction does not differentiate itself from non fiction in regards to content. Context can, like ero manga sensei being about writing porn, therefore some issues need to be discussed in the series. But It just being a fictional show doesnt make a difference. Thus the person being convicted for simpsons porn. |

sounds like some dictator, insane troll logic mind control shit. When they can't make any distinction and make up rules like that, who would want to live in Aussie? |

All this time wasted on stuff like this when this senator should be focusing all his time and energy on the billions of dead wildlife and all those acres of burnt habitats. There is just too much to multitask on to even consider nonessential legislation.

If anyone thinks No Game No Life is pornography or abuse material, then they're either delusional or being disingenuous.
And with Australian politicians it could be both. |

It is not as uncommon as you think. In fact even in Japan pornography depicting fictional children is heavily frowned apon but their culture of not interfering with people private past times means there is not much pressure on people involved. Its a growing field that is being tested and amended in laws all across the world in part due to global distribution on the internet of doujinshi content that often depicts 16 and under characters. Canada, Italy, Finland, Netherlands, Russia, South Africa, United Kingdom and many more have similar stances to Australia regarding fictional characters. Even in the united states depictions of fictional sexual acts requires passing a test for the content not to be regarded as obscene based on community standards and artistic value. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_status_of_drawn_pornography_depicting_minors Please note we are talking about incidents where we cross the border from stories depicting normal exploration of sexuality for minors, which is contextually okay even in live action tv series, into sexual depictions of minors. Which is why the classification boards statement believes it acting correctly about ero manga sensei and no game no life receiving MA ratings. |

Well, the party he represents, Centre Alliance, is pretty progressive, at least on paper;
On top of that, the party, and particularly Griff himself, has been quite favorable to immigration in contrast to most of the political spectrum in Australia. Why he'd go and waste so much energy on this, I have no idea either... @Cryten; In the case of Finland, that only applies to photorealistic or factual images of child pornography;

Hilariously, Ishuzoku Reviewers is only being streamed in English in Australia, so there's some funny irony there.
