These awards always make me laugh. Kimetsu no Yaiba, haha. Even Isabella won the best antagonist over Askeladd, one of the best characters if not the best characters in the past decade. Well, I know that this was a popularity contest, but then why even consider the "critics'" votes when the final result remained the same.

Everything can be subjective to certain groups, so deal with it.

I just wish they had more diverse choices through the categories instead of the same parts of an anime being represented multiple times.

Demon Slayer is a pretty good show. But "Anime of the Year"? I don't think so. It's a little too "pat shonen action series" to be "Anime of the Year".

I mean it did pretty much destroy One Piece in manga sales last year as a result of the huge anime popularity. I'd be more skeptical if it didn't win anime of the year when it was such the obvious choice

Ah yes lets give Wit Studios President who more or less joked about his companies shitty work environment a reward instead of the company known for being a great place to work at which also had one of their buildings burned to the ground in an arson attack that killed over 30 people. Hell let's take it a step further and not even bother mentioning said studio during the event!

I don’t know why they don’t bring back the manga category and they axed the movie category this year. It probably would have been one of the few chances for Promare or Weathering With You to win something.

That was to be expected, popularity contest and alll yada yada yada
"Company head George Wada was also honored as this year's Industry Icon."
But this is super gross. Instead of showing support and honoring KyoAni, let's honor someone who made jokes about their awful working conditions and called their staff "zombies fueled by energy bars".

The numbers were more or less the same. (depends on which source you use and which narrative you're trying to push, Oricon's estimations or Shueisha's own numbers, which was number 2 according to them.)

Good on Lynzee for getting this out so fast! Definitely thought the show was much improved from last year and pleasantly surprised that Raphtalia was Best Girl (she is to me anyway)...

Dororo and Vinland Saga were my favorites of last year so happy they both won something (but yeah Askeladd was robbed)
KNY isn’t my favorite but I can’t deny it’s impact so I am not upset about it’s Anime of the Year win. When I look at it objectively I think it deserved that honor. At least it didn’t completely sweep the awards.
And I’m happy Mob Psycho won best animation

That's not how giving an award should work at all. The award should only be about the end result of the product, otherwise it wouldn't be fair for anyone. You cannot exclude someone from an award over a joke, or because you don't like the way they chose to do their job, as long as it's not illegal. In the same way, you cannot give awards based on sympathy alone. It will not make anyone happy and it would just add salt to the wound. What you just described seems extremely unfair in all levels.

If Crunchyroll wanted to honor Wit's output, they should have given the award to the animation staff or one of their directors instead of the CEO who only has a limited role in making Wit's shows a success that he's taking the credit for. And studios like Madhouse are being sued for literally overworking their staff to death in Japan.

First, I really wish people would stop giving these any attention. As a streaming service, Crunchyroll has no place holding an Award Ceremony for anime. They're FAR too involved/biased. Imagine if Samsung hosted an award show for best smartphone of the year lol.
Second, giving Raphtalia "Best girl" is honestly supporting the pro-slavery message of the anime. The fact that she CHOSE to become a slave after being freed is pushing a disgusting message.
No way Carole & Tuesday should've gotten close to "Best score". It's BGM was largely forgettable and it only had like 3 good vocal songs.
This is honestly worse than a simple popularity contest. Just really bad taste form really bias judges.

1. One of their directors was given an award already.
2. Giving an award to someone in the production staff does not represent a company's total works.
3. Who better represents the studio as a whole, other than the president himself.
4. This is getting blown way out of proportion.
5. It's a crunchyroll award.
