Before people start misunderstanding, this isn't Tencent owning any part of Platinum Games, so Tencent has no say or control over anything Platinum makes. This is effectively a loan from Tencent to allow Platinum to expand in something bigger, and once Platinum pay backs the loan it'll have no more relation to Tencent.
Now, sure, Tencent will likely look into being more involved with Platinum should the expansion succeed, because otherwise there'd be no reason for Tencent to invest in the first place. Still, as of right now, & as the article states, nothing about Platinum will be changing from this investment. |

About as much as respected industry analysts like Daniel "ZhugeEX" Ahmad are... Which is to say "Not at all". If this was Tencent literally now owning a part of Platinum, then it would be reported as such, simple as that. |

This is just a small step in a larger movement for Tencent to control Platinum. Never ever take the money from China unless you are 110% sure that they aren't trying to buy you out or assert some or all control of your company.

Was Platinum in such bad shape there were no other companies they could have taken money from?
