Oh, the Toonami-watching crowd is gonna flip at this news, and not in the good way.

... I'm not sure what you mean by this, because I'm actually rather pleased with this news as a Toonami-only watcher. I mean, to be fair, I'm actually not surprised by this in any way; I figured it would get a 2nd season because I knew they couldn't just end it with the manga still ongoing and I figured based on how much is still left to explore they wouldn't attempt to do a filler ending quite yet (compared to what happened with Soul Eater). Other than my issues with the fanservice at times (no different than how I felt when watching Soul Eater), Fire Force has been a fun ride and I look forward to seeing it continue - albeit maybe not as much as I am about other series on Toonami, like Dr. STONE - at some point here soon.

Admittedly, I was referring more to the crowd who hates Tamaki's shtick so much it ruined the show for them (and even then, that's only one or two people). Personally, I'm glad it's getting season 2 also, though I wasn't expecting it what with the flagging Japanese DVD/BD sales (last I checked).

Oh, another split cour. First: there were infos about it running for four cours even before it started. Second: you don't produce a whole season in half a year.

I know a few people like that though granted they are just a vocal minority since the show still manages to get decent ratings anyway.
Anyway as a fellow Toonami-watcher, I too am excited for this. I'm ready to see how crazier this show gets.

We've known it was split cours since it started.
But also DVD/BD sales haven't been an indicator of success for a few years now. Same thing with manga sales when digital overtook print in Japan a few years ago and digital numbers never get reported. Even video game sales are going that way in Japan, if they aren't already.
There's no real point to look at Japanese sales numbers anymore, which is admittedly kinda strange for someone who grew up in the era of comparing them and can take a bit of getting used to. So all the people who were dancing at Fire Force's low numbers, well...

As a fan of Fire Force, I’m excited it’s getting a second season but I do have to admit to being surprised it is after how it seemed like after the series premiere, the reactions became more polarized and Fire Force seemed to get overshadowed by Dr. Stone and Demon Slayer’s popularity. I hope David Productions will keep up with the great animation quality and I’m looking forward to seeing where the show goes next.

Since when?
"Digital" has little bearing here unless you have some kind of extremely persuasive argument that fans of the series simply love digital formats by an order of magnitude more than buyers of other series.
Second seasons coming soon after the first are often simply a matter of scheduling. If they expected a success then another season may have been actively in the works since well before the abysmal sales became clear. These things are planned and worked on well in advance. Demon Slayer would probably still be getting that movie even had the sales been awful. Many studios do this.

Oh yes, lord forbid there be a swarm of people who are turned off by a brazenly sexist gimmick written by a 40 year old man. And I don't know where you've been because it's been a hell of a lot more than just "two or three people" who've dropped the show over this.

Actually the home video market has been on a constant and steep decline since 2013. These days even live-events bring in more revenue than home video sales do. Streaming and digital sales is where the market for video is these days.

Well, there's two or three that I was already aware of. Also, I'm in my twenties and have Aspergers, of course fanservicey crap like that has no effect on me.

Well, thankfully that group wasn't big enough to stop the show from being a success

Oh, I admit that I'm one of the people that HATE the whole "lucky lecher lure" shtick, to the point that every time it happens I yell at the TV (probably not the SMARTEST idea to do, since I live in an apartment and it airs late).
But it hasn't been enough to make me want to give up on the series. Luckily it's not extremely often that this pops up, and the story and other characters make up for it. I just hope that, eventually, Tamaki will shed this "power" and be able to develop into a better character that isn't just a bunch of fanservice wrapped up in fire.

Great news and Fire Force is my second favorite shonen anime of the year and like Soul Eater it has both creativity and heart.

Why do you expect shonen manga that is mostly made for teenage boys to remove fanservice due to a tiny percentage of people that get upset over it? It is fine to dislike it but it is worth mentioning that fanservice is one of the things that made it popular and fanservice is liked by the vast majority of the people that read shonen manga.

As someone who is a Fire Force fan, I can say fanservice isn't the reason I like the series or shonen manga in general. I'm mainly interested in Fire Force and other shonen manga for the story, the animation, and cool action scenes, which I assume a lot of other people are as well. Even with other shonen manga, I doubt stuff like the Master Roshi jokes are one of the top reasons most fans are into Dragon Ball. Even if someone is generally fine with fanservice, the Tamaki joke just isn't that funny and I don't like how it often clashes with serious dramatic moments in the show. There are also lots of girls who love to read shonen manga too if the high volume of Naruto/Sasuke yaoi fanfics over the years wasn't an indication. One can like Fire Force and still acknowledge this one element in this show isn't that good and the show would be vastly improved without it.
