Yeah, PG12 might not be appropriate for the arc the movie is going to cover.

That's an understatement if there ever was one, if they follow the source (hears spilling noises in the background...). Smile

I do wonder if there was ever an anime movie with an R18+ rating on it and if it ever made it to theaters.

If they stay true to the arc the move covers, they might want to change it to that......

That's about right, I was more surprised they even thought it was okay to roll with the PG12.

Actually only the third film's original version was R18+. The first film got a G rating while the second got a PG12 rating. And the theatrical cut of the third film was R15+

Based on the trailer, I am not surprised they decided to change the rating.

It wouldn't be the first one; Grave of the Fireflies.

I don't want to say that you're wrong, but how the first berserk movie was G rated? There was a scene in the movie where casca was fully nude, and there was a really violent scene at the end of the movie.

Wasn't Akira rated R when it came out in theaters?

R18+ version got limited theatrical release in few selected theatres. Remaining went with R15+ version.

Japanese cinema has far more freedom than TV or games in that country. Ajin and Inuyashiki are violent movies that can be watched by children there. The Western censorship pattern has not yet infected it.
