Not related but ANN doesn't mention Jujutsu Kaisen is getting an anime adaptation.

Mostly negative feelings about this announcement since I live around NYC.
Reedpop created New York Anime Festival, then killed it by slowly merging it with New York Comic Con. For years there was no dedicated anime con in NYC, until some execs left Reedpop for Left Field Media and created Anime NYC and Crunchyroll Expo a few years later in 2017. I guess Reedpop finally noticed anime was actually popular and made two very poor attempts at reviving NYAF. Other news outlets have noticed this too: https://www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/industry-news/trade-shows-events/article/77942-reedpop-s-anime-fest-at-nycc-faces-controversy.html I wonder why Crunchyroll decided to ditch Left Field for Reedpop? Anime NYC seems to be doing doing well. Will Anime NYC still be sponsored by CR next year? I wish ANN had more opinion pieces about industry happenings like this. |
