If you can seriously spoiler[only catch two legendaries period in Sword/Shield] then whoever made that call needs to be fired. Every other gen was better about that, without exception.

I thought the Sonic trailer was cute. Is it going to be dumb as hell? Oh, absolutely. Is Jim Carrey going to be the best part of this movie, no matter what? Perhaps. But I got that same warm-hearted feeling watching this trailer that I got when I saw Detective Pikachu; at the very least, it'll be fun to watch.

I do have to say this, though; the movie's reason for Sonic is in our world is a little different from other franchises who have done this before. It wasn't an accident, he didn't trip and fall in or whatever. Sonic came here on purpose, to hide out from his enemies back home. It also explains his self-referencing humor; he's so bored out of his mind that he gouged on a lot of pop culture. He wasn't a fish out of water, he managed to blend right into our world, at least culturally.

I'm far more interested in the Fairy Tail game now that I know it won't be an arena brawler or a Dynasty Warriors clone. For some reason, a turn-based RPG just feels like a better fit.

The battle system in that Fairy Tail game sounds a lot like Radiant Historia. At least as far as manipulating the enemy space with skills. Having more control of the player spacing is a neat addition to that formula though.

Think you're overselling things by a smidge up until around gen 3 or so you could only ever catch 4 legendaries in any one game. Not the 7-9 that became sorta of the standard. And depending on who you ask that's too many that cheapens the whole gimmick of Legendaries.

Not terribly surprised the Fairy Tail game won't be getting a dub, pretty much any anime tie-in that isn't a DBZ or Naruto game these days doesn't. Not even omega popular series like MHA or Attack on Titan.

Heidi is super right. So much negativity in the Pokemon community these days. Let's focus on the positives for a change, you know? Laughing Life's short.

Personally, I think Gamefreak had an amazing idea, so I'll tip my hat to them. They designed such amazing box legendaries with such unique designs and battle gimmicks. Overall, they gave us an amazing and fully unique and special region unlike anything we've ever seen in the franchise before. There were tons of awesome designs for the new Pokemon , and they focused on improving and fixing a lot of questionable features int he past games along with making new ones. Also you got to admit the soundtrack is great, including some amazing new guest musicians working on it. But most surprising was the story. It had so much care and detail put into it, and they weren't afraid to pull any punches. The villain was hands down the best we have ever had, which will no doubt go down as one of the fan favorite characters in the series for sure. Plus all the amazing and expansive post-game content is just a bonus

Above all though, it's great to see Gamefreak taking such a huge risk, despite the fears and worries from the fanbase when all this stuff was first announced. They could have easilly messed it up, but instead they knocked it out of the park and gave us hands down the best Pokemon experience so far. I still can't believe how good Black 2 and White 2 turned out so well even 7 years after the fact. Those were the days.

According to Koei, it's just not worth investing in an alternate track because "no one listens to dubs", or some nonsense similar to that. A damn shame since Fairy Tail is one of Funimation's more decently dubbed works, despite the hit-and-miss simuldub episodes.

I think it is very reasonable to be upset with gamefreak about sword and shield.
The game (outside of the national dex) is just not up to quality of the other games. The animations look really bad in some cases, the models do not look new (noticeably better) at all. And other elements of the game just look like they are lesser (for the console they are on) compared to previous iterations.

It's almost like the most profitable franchise in the world has major games for it being made by a B team at game freak.......OH WAIT THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY DID. I don't blame the employees all wanting to work on town instead, but game freak seriously miss managed this game and game freak over all. you could not have chosen a worse time to give pokemon to a new team. And game freak has been messing up since sun and moons release and you can see that very obviously here in sword and shield.

I am very curious to spend some time with sword and shield find out who has been lying and who has been telling the truth because it's not looking like game freak and masuda have been honest with us.

I don't think it is fair at all to blame the fans for being negative when their is so much questionable things surrounding the game.

I am so. Freaking. DONE with the Sword and Shield discourse, especially those who insist on nitpicking "technical" aspects despite their "expertise" coming exclusively from hack channels like Digital Foundry. Anyway:

-Stadia: Anyone remember OnLive? I rest my case

-Sonic: Feel for the poor animators who have to crunch to make a deadline with this. Producers are morons

Also, Jedi Fallen Order comes out tomorrow, but you'd be forgiven for not knowing that considering EA done everything they can to depress hype. Kinda baffling considering how everything I've heard from X019 today claims it's really good.

Speaking of which, MS continues its constant attempts to right the ship with a bunch of stuff announced today, as well as confirming they drove a dump truck full of money to Sega's headquarters as the Yakuza series is being ported over. And it looks like Square finally got MS to put FFXIV on the XB1 (though that whole thing was a multilayered quagmire involving MS and Sony from what I understand).

I was mildly interested in fairy tail till I heard it wasn't going to get a dub. Guess that's money I can put towards a game made by someone who respects the NA audience.

Well sure provided the subsequent criticism doesn't involve any having their lives threatened or engaging in projection or bad faith arguments, or telling people to stop liking the game because you don't like it etc.

.....Gen 3 was not particularly well liked nor was Sun & Moon so it's not like they haven't made games of dubious quality before.

I mean not for nothing but having the older more experienced devs working on this wouldn't have not potentially lead to something getting fucked up.

As mentioned at the top given the toxicity of the criticism of a large swath of critics it kind of is.

When you remember how just a couple of years ago people were playing taps for EA's Star Wars games (exclusively due to the Battlefront duology) and actually hoping that Disney snatched the license from them.

I wouldn't say it's all on them.

I had no idea Gust was involved in the Fairy Tail game. Now I feel more inclined to purchase it. They're a company I'm particularly fond of.

Even as a fan a turn based JRPGs I can't help being a bit suprised and a little disappointed that Fairy Tail is going to be turn based. At least it wouldn't have been my first choice for combat.

Though that won't stop me from picking it up if the reviews are good (they just better have the main theme in there :p https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6kb96YWXMA)

re:Pokemon, based on reviews, it looks like they've made quite a number of quality of life changes (which is great), but as someone who last played X & Y, it doesn't look like the overall game is really that different in terms of it's structure, how combat is presented etc to get me to pick it up again. Hopefully this game will provide a good foundation for something better with the next game.

I am still disappointed by the removal of the older Pokemon generation into the game, i know there have been quite few death threats to the Game Freak about their decisions and its negative reception really ruined their reputation.

No matter what it costs, it is a bad thing.
