I just don't get this whole Fortnite obsession. Why are kids so infatuated with it? Sure, I did like that Batman collaboration they did, but these kinds of games have never interested me. I think in a few years, this will fizzle out worldwide like Yo-kai Watch did in Japan a couple of years ago.

M8 you just answered your own question. "Don't get this whole Fortnite Obsession" -> "These kinds of games have never interested me." Regarding GBFV, we already know the full roster, with DLC included, will have 1.5x more characters. Source: https://twitter.com/granblue_en/status/1160527798907224070 |

-Pokemon: We now have Pikachonk and Longcat. Gigantamax is looking fun
-GBVS: And of course after they announce this Zeta and Vaseraga get a special paired Halloween variant. Still surprised Narmaya wasn't one of the first announced though. I can already see the riots if she's DLC. -LoL: Yeah, not really interested, especially considering Riot's behavior coming to light. -Blizzard: I would say "not to dwell on it" but Blizzard keeps bringing this crap up. They canceled an event at the Nintendo Store in NYC and people noticed that Nintendo was suspiciously quiet on promoting Overwatch on launch. And of course Blizzard suspends MORE Hearthstone players for Hong Kong mentions. Looks like their hopes of this going away for Blizzcon have been dashed. I don't expect Q&As to be a thing this year |

Get the Riot gear ready then cause she'll be DLC. We're not getting any other character. Those 11 (12 if we count Lyria) on the Cover are the base roster. |

That, uh... doesn't answer anything, actually. Not having interest in those kinds of games was their reason for not knowing why kids love them. Unless you mean kids play these games because adults hate them? Pretty sure it's not that. I suspect the real answer is that it's less about the game itself and more about the fact that everyone they know is playing it. Once a game (or anything) hits a certain critical mass of popularity, it just sucks everyone in. It's also true, though, that these sorts of things are fad-driven and don't last more than a few years... in one go. From what I've heard, Minecraft, a previous case of game-played-by-every-kid-on-the-planet, is seeing a resurgence recently now that the crowd is losing interest in Overwatch and Fortnite. Pokemon is also one of those megafad games, maybe the first, and... wow. Porkachu? That may be the most shocking announcement yet. I thought Nintendo wanted to pretend that never existed. But I guess along with Longmeowth, they're trying to generate some memes. Or reuse old ones, anyway. |

The main difference here, though, is that these players purposefully tried getting punished in an effort for Blizzard to show that it wasn't just to appease China, only for Blizzard to take a week to finally do so, whereas the previous time was nigh-instantly, & for only 6 months, whereas the previous time was for an entire year. While those guys are happy to finally get punished, it still says something that Blizzard only gave them half the length of suspension. |

I was one of those people who got sucked into Pokémon. It was supposed to be a fad, yet it became one of the most recognized brands in the world, and I say this as a lapsed fan up until the announcement of a new game coming to Switch. You can thank the marketing genius of Nintendo for that. Unlike Fortnite, at least Pokémon has story, characters, and a plot. |

It's been a few years since Fortnite came out already and it's bigger than it's ever been. Millions of people tuned in to watch a black dot on a screen for days. It's not going anywhere anytime soon
To be fair when you have people threatening to assault Blizzard employees and anyone who continues to support Blizzard it probably led to Blizzard thinking they didn't have enough security at a third party store to ensure everyone was safe and no crazy activist came in with a gun or knife to follow through on those threats. Anyone trying to read this as Nintendo defying Blizzard and supporting Hong Kong well... y'all may want to look into Nintendo's recent business deals cause they're really pushing to get into the Chinese market themselves.
Both the original guy and these guys got 6 months. Same punishment actually. Although I'd say it's a bit of a different situation. The AU guys were on a losing streak and about to be knocked out of the tournament entirely. They decided to go out with this which is kinda smart since it gets their name out there and they'll get some clout as the brave gamers who stood up to the billion dollar company rather than just being forgotten after going 1-4 in a tournament. Kinda a different position than a Grand Master who won first place and tons of prize money. |

No one was going to assault Blizzard employees, that's just inane. The reason Blizzard withdrew is because, at worst, they were looking at people asking questions about the whole Hong Kong thing which would overshadow that. Again, it's them trying to avoid the elephant in the room but doing it terribly. |

Which they didn't really get til Black & White.
Save The World Fornite's PvE mode has characters and a story.
There's only so many times you can rehash the "I Wanna Be A Pokemon Champion but first I gotta stop this evil group of people who want to do some random evil act(s) involving Pokemon" gimmick.
.....The event was in NYC one of the most overpoliced and secure locations in the world ain't shit was going to happen to anyone from Blizzard here. |

I'm mainly talking about the Pokémon RPGs, not the anime.

The original guy got reduced to six months, which I only found out after I had made my post. He was originally stripped of all his winnings & suspended for an entire year, only getting reduced to six months (& only part of his winnings being stripped) around the same time the other team got suspended. |

Would you bet your life on it? You see hundreds of angry people making death threats on Reddit, Twitter, official forums, and any other place talking about this and hurling tons of toxicity your way, calling you a subhuman Nazi sympathizers while also chanting the 'Punch Nazis' mantra they do love to promote. Would you still go to a store downtown for a public appearance with 100% confidence no one was actually going to do anything to you? Even if you were, would your company? Knowing full well they'd be liable to a lawsuit if anything happens? |

Yeah so was I as I've not watched the anime since the it was still on Kids WB. So I knew instantly you were talking about the games.
Between the fact that if Blizzard wanted to they could easily hire more security for the event in addition to fact that the event was being held in Downtown Manhattan a place among others that's swarming with cops? I would But the funny part is the idea that anyone would go out of their way to physically harm Blizzard employees at a event for the launch of a sketchy port for one of the games on a Nintendo platform...and not something like Blizzcon. Plus as it's been mentioned numerous times Blizzard could've avoided all the outrage by not licking the boot. Granted they'd still have the thousands of neckbeards still griefing them over Diablo 3 and Diablo Mobile |
