I've been looking for a good romance for awhile now. Does anyone know any good ones?
I like comedy and drama ones. Like Hana-Kimi and Love Hina. Something like that. I don't really like fantasy's or action but i might think about that. Last edited by jennykiba on Fri Jan 04, 2008 10:26 pm; edited 1 time in total |

You'll probably get more replies if you give some more information about what kind of romances you like. Light comedy, dramatic angst, sports, tragedy things like that.
Also let the forumites know what you've read in the past and enjoyed and why. A simple list won't be enough, and is likely to be locked by moderators. You'll need to let us know why you liked or disliked the titles you've read before and what you would like to read now. |

Do you prefer long series or short? If it doesn't matter I would suggest Mars by Soryo Fuyumi (15 volumes), it's a really great series about the relationship between Kira and her boyfriend Rei. manga#1567
Other good romance manga are Hana-Kimi ( manga#2028 , though after volume 12 it isn't quite as good as it was), Hot Gimmick (the heroine is really wimpy, but I thought the story was really addicting ![]() |

Kare First Love is absolutely amazing. its a about a shy, loser-ish girl that has no self confidence that falls in love with a really attractive poplar guy that everyone in the main chars school loves. it deals a lot about her insecurities and how she handles a boy friend
If you like shonen-ai/yaoi gravatation and our kingdom are wonderful. gravatation is about a young pop star shuichi who falls in love with a romance novel writer and its just those 2 dealing with each other. our kingdom is about 2 teenage guys competing for the head spot in their family and of course they start to like each other and its them dealing with the pressure of their tasks and their relationship, very angsty if you like fantasy romance i highly recoment d.n angel. Daisuke, the main char deals with his job as an art thief, school and dealing with crush. I second the recomendatin of hot gimmick, one of the most amazing mangas ever, tokyo boys and girls is pretty good, its by the same author as hot gimmick. basically its just a high school drama Anything by Yuu Watase is awsome and finally socrates in love. heartbreaking, cute, just stunning. |

If you liked Hana-Kimi, you may like Power!! (aka Girl Got Game). They're pretty similar stories (girl pretending to be a guy, except she's playing on the same basketball team.)
Ouran High School Host Club is absolutely amazing, but it's more comedy than it is romance. Perfect Girl Evolution, while also sort of romance, is more amusing than anything else. Mitsuru Adachi has some really good series if you like older, slice of life stuff - Touch & H2 were favorites of mine. Parfait Tic has beautiful art and an engaging story. |

If you liked Hana Kimi try Tenshi Nai Ja (I'm no Angel) it's the same idea with a twist. It is a boy cross dressing as a girl in an all girl's school. It is only 8 vols long and all are available. Also, I like Gatcha Gacha not to be confused for Gacha Gacha. The heroine is not stereotypical since she has been dumped multiple times. Plus, her best friend is a total tomboy. Currenty it stands at 6 vols and counting. Another would be Short Sunzen! . I just bought it and haven't read it yet. The first vol was just released this year. The main character is a tomboy with a crush.
Also, for classic romance with a humor twist I'd always add Maison Ikkoku. It is about an apartment complex and the "budding" relationship between a boarder and the manager. Really cute and funny. But the art is old style - if that matters. However, if you want to check it out be preparred to pay. It is a 15 vol series that is getting difficult to find (vols. 3 and 8). If you're interested justmanga.com is selling the entire series for about $120. I'm not sure about other places. |

Well you might like W Juliet. I really liked this series myself. I really enjoyed watching the relationship between Ito and Makoto develop. The story is quite charming but it also deals with family, friends and rivals. It is a long series but I think that it's worth it.
Another one, which is shorter, you might try Merupuri. The manga-ka is the same one who does Vampire Knight. Both stories are really great. Vampire Knight isn't finished but Merupuri, I rather liked and enjoyed. If you want some darker stories, but still have some romance, you might try Alice 19th or Ceres. Just as a warning, Ceres does deal with some rather adult situations: Murder, incest, rape, suicide, teen pregnancy. Alice doesn't deal with those things precisely but it does deal with emotional issues that we all have dealt with at one time or another. Please don't let me discourage you from reading these two. They are amongst my favorites! I hope that you find something that you like! |

Really? I found volumes 3 and 8 at my Borders without any problems. Anyway, to the OP, DEFINITELY try "Maison Ikkoku". Definitely would be my favorite romance manga. Also try "Oh My Goddess!", "Strawberry 100%" and "Chobits". That's about all I can offer though, I don't read TOO many romance manga. |

In my opinion Ichigo 100% (Srawberry 100%) is one of the most enjoyable Harem, Romantic, Comedy manga's, so if you wanna see a guy sorrounded by girls he don't deserve then that's a good choice
![]() Also one Romance manga that people rarely have heard of is IO. To my knowledge it is currently only available via. scanlation but it has really gripping story that isn't obvious from the beginning. Definitely worth checking out. ![]() |

I recently bought the first volume of High School Debut and I liked it. It doesn't seem to be particularly heavy but it kind of reminds me of a lighter version of Hot Gimmick. A few of the elements seem fairly standard and predictable but I'm generally a sucker for romance anime/manga so I don't really mind.

I've been reading the "immature, cute, fluffy" romance manga consisting of Ultra Maniac, Kitchen Princess, Cherry Juice, and Fall In Love Like A Comic.
For slightly more mature: Chibi Vampire, Densha Otoko (any of the 3 versions), Wish, Absolute Boyfriend, Crossroad, Emma (really good for fans of British romance), DN Angel Ask if you want shounen-ai or yaoi because I've got an entire list I could ramble off on ![]() |

Oh I am a huge romance fan!
MARS is a great pick, as you can see by the many others who have recommended it already. Peach Girl is great if you love drama, Saikano if you like heavy, sad love stories, Kare First Love, Kare Kano (very long series though, 21 volumes...), Gravitation if you like boy's love, and Boys Over Flowers is also excellent! I've only read the first chapter of Lovely Complex but it was awesome and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it too. |
