Hi.
I have this sports-freak of a friend that im trying to hook on anime but cant seem to find anything he likes.

I'd love some help in this department, so suggestions are welcome. He's mainly a hockey/soccer maniac so.. Smile Thanks in advance.

I think Battle Athletes is a sports anime, though I haven't seen it so I wouldn't go and tell him to buy it.

Battle Athletes is an excellent sports anime.
When Hajime no Ippo gets released next year, I can gaurantee that he will like it.

Slam Dunk is also good, but there is no word of it coming out in the US.

No version of Captain Tsubasa (a Soccer anime) has ever been released over here has it? I've heard it's a great series.

There's Princess Nine (a Baseball anime), but that may not be great for getting new fans interested.

Seems like there's far more sports manga out over here than anime, I know US Shonen Jump did a feature on it recently.

Princess Nine...It isn't soccer, but IMO it's one of the best sports anime to ever be released stateside, and if your friend doesn't mind reading manga then I suggest showing him the manga Harlem Beat.

Maybe you can add Ping Pong Club to the list, but ONLY if he is a big Beavis and Butthead fan Laughing
