The game is a high-definition remaster of the international version of Final Fantasy XII.

Where, bizarrely, "international version" means a version that previously only existed in Japan. Both FF X and XII had second upgraded releases in Japan. The FF X one mostly had additions from the international release so the name made sense. For FF XII they reused the name even though almost all the added content was unique to that Japanese release and not in any international release.

Why is Basch the only main character not featured in the artwork for FFXII? Is there something I am missing here?

I'll take any reason to play FFXII again. Easily my favorite.

FF XII still remains to be one of my favorite games ever. Nice to see that more people will have access to it.

When was the last time an FF game was released on a Nintendo system?

For a mainline numbered installment? Final Fantasy VI on SNES in 1994 as an original release. Including its ports/remakes, Final Fantasy IV on DS in 2008.

Last one in general including spinoffs? World of Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition HD on Switch no more than a few months ago.

The PSP remake of the original Final Fantasy got a JP-only 3DS port a few years back.

Whoa, never knew that and after watching some vids, wished we got it over here.
