When I click on a article my ipad immediately crashes. I think it is because of the ads because it does not crash until the ad loads. When I go to the front page of ANN it does not crash. This started happening on Monday.

Not an Apple user, but I read that clearing browser history, cookies and cache fixes that issue sometimes. Make sure you also close the Safari app and restart your iPad.

I did try clearing and restarting but it still crashes. I believe it has something to do with the ad for Fireworks.

Everything seems okay now. I guess it was not the ad for Fireworks that caused my ipad to crash but the other ads box that show multiple advertisements.

I am so sorry to bug you but it is doing it again. I can definitely say the cause is the multi ad box. It was gone for a few days and everything was fine but when it came back my iPad started crashing again.

The only possible workaround I can think of is installing an adblocker on Safari and see if that fixes it.
If it works, you can keep using it when the browser keeps crashing. Alternatively, you can pay $12/year to support ANN and have an ad-free experince. If it doesn't fix the crash issue, it might be something else other than the ads. Thing is, this is actually a Safari browser issue, and debugging the part of the code that makes it crash is difficult (requires the iPad to be connected on a PC/Mac, software needs to be installed, requires reading long files of text etc). |

Yes that is correct. I believe it is because that ad box does not appear on the front page.

The ad box with the paid ads. I just call it multi ad box because it shows different advertisements. Sorry about that.

You mean the side-bar, and the medium rectangle ad at the very top of it ? Those ads do appear on the front page, almost identical. So I doubt the issue is actually that.
But let me check with Dan, there might be another cause that I'm thinking of... |

Can you give me the version # (iOS, iPad and Browser) so we can report the problem to the network responsible for the problem ?

I did find what I think is the version number which is 6.0.1
Looking at it now I am clearly using an old version. I got my iPad used from my mom a couple of years ago. Unfortunately as a result I can no longer install updates. I think that might really be my problem. I am really sorry. I feel like I have been wasting your time. |
