Sawano! Starring Kamina's cousin. His staff reminds me of Tauburn for obvious reasons. The 3DCG is a turn off much like with Monsuto anime.

Oh so it is not going to be a TV show. The art direction is... interesting, it will be easy to tell how it works with more footage, but at the moment, it's a bit off. The CG seems a bit intense, at least compared to the last 2. Gurren Lagann had very little, and while Kill La Kill had a bit more, it was still pretty minimal.

Trigger going downhill. This just looks like gurren lagann but only kamina. Plus the cg is so jarring.

No, that's just Imaishi. As much as I like his works, he's incapable of variety and always makes the same thing.

This is what Imaishi's been working on for five years?
I have faith in Trigger, so I'm gonna wait and see what the final product looks like, but... yeah ...

Are you guys kidding me? that was AMAZING cg integration!!
2d and 3d mix so well! the movement is so slick and the colors are vibrant and lively!
Man trigger ain't going downhill, they've made like 4 things... I mean occasionally they're gonna have duds like darling in the franxx, but ninja slayer, kill la kill, and little witch academia were fantastic, and SSSS.Gridman looks to be pretty good if people just give it a chance first

I agree, the CGI in this looks stunningly good. I have no idea what people are bitching about.

Five years? Space Patrol Luluco only came out two and a half years ago.

Ehh. I fall on the skeptical side as well. I don't doubt the writing may be great regardless, but it's still one of those situations where the 3D looks good simply relative to what you might expect, meaning...can't really shake the feeling all that would look better if it were hand drawn. Still want to see it, but my expectations are admittedly lower now.

Trigger said this went into production right after Kill La Kill, so that would put it around 4-5 years.

Yeah I did see after I posted this that at Anime Expo 2017 when it was announced they said it has been in production for four years.

Wait, people thought this looked bad or not interesting? Damn, and here my hype just solidified. I'm super excited for this trip. Feels like a more modern Dead Leaves aesthetically, but thankfully with Nakashima giving the writing some nuance.
