I’m glad to see Happy Sugar Life making it into the top 15. I’m also happy to see Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs at least be in the 10’s, but seeing Harukana Receive be so low on this list makes me feel a bit sad as I didn’t see anything in the show itself that warranted such a low placement.

But wait, Revue Starlight got a 4.7 for it's final episode while Planet With got a 4.6 and Lupin Part V only a 4.1. Why are they higher?

Too bad Revue didn't get 3rd rank on the accumulative but oh well maybe I'm just getting greedy, still really good.

Well, I thought the Summer 2018 season was a pretty mediocre one and I only watched/am watching four series to completion. Usually it's around seven. But my favorite anime, Shichisei no Subaru, isn't even listed here. The other three are Overlord III, Persona 5, and How Not To Summon a Demon Lord.

...it's not? Or are the ANN crowd under the assumption that it was a bad show?

I enjoyed it, so not sure why that guy spoke for all people of ANN and said that statement with an implication that what he thought of it was absolute fact and not opinion.

Hum there's 13 episode review and as of this writing 134 comment that will explain why Hanebado got such a low place. TL:DR version, they jumped the shark and tried to act like it was a deep and insightful thing to do.

What I consider the best anime of the Summer season, Mo Dao Zu Shi [Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation], is missing in action. It is absolutely beautiful to look at, with production values that blow away anything on the list, and the script is just fine (as opposed to many earlier Chinese animation productions).
