Did CR themselves say they would stream the dub? I don't remember them ever saying that? |

Had a good laugh at Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, voicing the sword-wielding character in a videogame-like world, talking about the VRMMOs he used to play.

This should also mention that Kevin Penkin, music artist in charge of Made in Abyss, will also be composing the soundtrack for Shield Hero. https://twitter.com/kevinpenkin/status/1027552344714686464
I also doubt that. I think it’s another Funimation simuldub that they were able to get the first episode really early. |

One Peace actually released the 12th volume of the LN in August.
Is Crunchyroll actually streaming the dub themselves? If true, that’s kind of an F you to Funimation. It’s based off of a super popular LN and Manga, so maybe they want to keep this all in house. Or maybe they’re just commissioning it, and Funi will stream it? Like Lupin part IV for Funi. |

I read the Manga until the part where the Queen returns and the King and Daughter was sentenced and had to drop it. One of my failings is if I cannot like the protagonist, I am pretty much done with that story. Yes the Protagonist was treated pretty crappily, but to go that low.. I have no interest in the anime now.

Damn, I was hoping for a fall premier but it's a great way to start of the new year! So hype!!

You should give a second chance if that's your main problem because starting the next arc after this one, the story does a 180, everything change for the best, even the protagonist . Like many others isekai, the beginning is nothing like the rest of the story once the aventure really start . |

LMAO at Yoshitsugu being the Sword hero. Not only that, he was talking about VRMMO's. Can't make this stuff up.

Honestly, it’s almost annoying that all of these fantasy stories are isekai now ... like what’s the point? Just make a fantasy story ffs. |

It's a fact that LN isekai are popular and numerous recently but not all the fantasy are isekai far from that, even during the ongoing isekai trend there are still more non-isekai fantasy anime every year than isekai one . Also whatever a serie is isekai fantasy or not doesn't make it any better or worse, judge by the content rather than the genre. |

According to a Sunday update on the anime's official website, Crunchyroll is simultaneously streaming the subtitled and dubbed versions overseas.

Saw the subbed premier today at CRX. It was great, the whole audience there definitely stayed spellbound throughout the double-length first episode. And audibly groaned right at the end when they were told they could see Episode 2... in about four months.

It's just lazy story-telling since there's typically no point in having someone dropped into the fantasy world from "our world" except to make it easy to info dump and to automatically make the otaku reader relate to the main character. It takes away some of the need to show not tell and to develop a well-rounded and unique main character. I'm not saying I hate them - I love Re:Zero, NGNL, and How Not to Summon a Demon Lord, but I'll admit they adhere to the lazy trope. |

It was the oposite for me actually, I dropped the manga because of how toned down it was from the novel. Tbh this was most likely due to the limitation of the medium (it has to progress the story in a few panels instead of several back and forth discussion) but I digress In my opinion naofumi is likable precisely because of how bitter and tsundere he became, his cruelty towards the characters you mention (I think that deserved an spoiler tag btw) makes him more believable as a person. Their punishment was as gratifying as his proceding long healing process after that event. I like him because he is selfish but not self-righteous, resentful but not self obsesed. It is his yearning for justice that leads him to want others to strugle as he did, to be held acountable. As much as he tells himself that other people deserve their missfourtune he stills offers them a hand, not for free but he stills goes out of his way to put it on the table |

I recomend you give the anime a chance if it turns out closer to the novel than the manga , you might see naofumi in a better light, ir it is properly directed people would notice the inconcistencies between his thoughts and actions, words and feelings ( I mean this as a good thing, a sign of good writing)
