I didn't think it was possible to even approach Let's Pop Together as the definitive, best thing to come out of this show, but they actually did it with Hellshake Yanno. I am, as they say, Hell-shook, yanno?
I'll be here all week.

Just figured it out after you pointed it out. Too bad we'll only get to L at this rate.

I am thrilled to report that Google Translate renders "temporairement exécutés" as "temporarily executed."

Nice pairing on the men's side, with them both playing regular supports in Naruto and Yowapeda. Btw, it's Kousuke Toriumi, not Torikumi.
The Hellshake sketch was bloody brilliant. Who were those guys? I wonder how many takes it took to get that in the can? And I'm boggled just trying to imagine the creative process behind it all. The hair flip. The tuning keys. The speed hands. Truly earned the Epic name. I am in awe.
Btw, Pipimi and Popuko got a brief cameo in this week's gdgd men's party, surfing The Great Wave off Kanagawa painting.

Really?! I couldn't see them but I was too disatracted by the Osomatsu painting.
There was also a reference to the "You mad?" "I'm not mad" skit earlier on in the episode
and a few episodes ago had the Totoro scene in it, albeit completely censored.
Anyway I'm gonna go check out that wave now.
EDIT: I just looked and oh my god that's classic. So good. I love that show so much
Oh and on another note, yesterday in Japan "I was thinking about Hellshake Yano" was trending

Yeah, the Osomatsu one was great too I don't know how they get away with openly naming other anime after Osomatsu-san got slapped down for it. Wasn't Anpanman one of the main objectors? gdgd just said it right out. o.o
The Utamaro courtesan one was a Violet Evergarden reference, right?
Here's the PTE one to stay on topic.
(Is being on topic important (or even possible) in a Pop Team Epic thread?)

Maybe because they just name dropped Anpan rather than having a character that's meant to look/act like him like in Osomatsu? But yeah, they've been name dropping stuff so much, I'm wondering how they're getting away with it...........
Look at the design in Violet Evergarden (and not knowing about the show), it does look like her. I was wondering who that one was. Sometimes the references in gdmen (and in PTE) are just a little bit too subtle for me, or I just don't know enough about what it's parodying.
I wouldn't be surprised if Hellshake has a cameo in some future gdmen episodes.
...Ah, if only there was a gdmen episode thread we could discuss it on...
Anyway here's a crossover from the gdmen twitter

Looked like it was hard to drink water under that mask. Stay hydrated, everyone.
I kinda liked the 9th episode best because of the male VAs just going absolutely off at some points.

I freaking love the super long segment with a punch line about some random semi obscure video game reference! (the buff guy is a character from some old arcade game, yes he's that buff in game and yes he's the mayor, no it has nothing to do with the game story, it's just random trivia).

I thought episode 9 was overall funnier than the Hellshake Yano thing everyone went crazy for.
