There is a trivia error for "Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi". I submitted a report about a month ago mentioning that the trivia was submitted based on false information. The trivia submission used a Japanese-to-Chinese-to-English fansub as it's source, where the fansub used an internet meme instead of the translation.

Cheers, thanks for your time.

Well, let's just analyze the trivia...
Quote:
The comment towards the end of episode 50 where Ishinsai Ogata mentions Kenichi and Odin's power levels are "over 9000" is a reference to a line from Dragonball Z's episode 28. This phrase has become a widely popular internet meme.

...and your comment...
Quote:
The use of "over 9000" is merely caused by bad fansubbing. The group(s) who used this for "translation" is known for adding anything to "complete" their Japanese-to-Chinese-to-English releases. What was used was 拮抗している(kikkoushiteiru) in reference to their strengths. A rough translation of the dialogue would be "Right now their strengths are truly rivaling each other". This can also be found in the manga, on page 162 of the 16th volume.

I can affirm that "it's over 9000" has become a popular meme. Whether or not it's a real line from DBZ is another question.
You suggest that it's originating from bad fansubbing. Well, from what I found on the net, it looks like it's a real phrase from the English dub. Maybe somebody who has seen the English dub can confirm or refute that it's really been said like that in episode 28.

Regarding the trivia itself, that of course should be based on the original japanese conversation (although of course the user might refer to the comment of the English fansub - there is no official version yet - of ep.50 of Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi). So before removing this claim, I'd rather wait somebody to have seen (and understand) the japanese DBZ episode 28 to confirm the exact wording "拮抗している".

And last but not least, we have a lot of work checking all reported errors, mostly because most of them have no proper source to state their claim. It takes a lot of our time, but there's no need to report it a second time in the forum.

The trivia was created because the meme was used through false subtitling by fans. I submitted a report because the (DBZ)meme itself does not make it related to Kenichi. I mentioned "拮抗している" in regards to Kenichi, not the (DBZ)meme. The meme itself is not erroneous, but believing the used dialogue in Kenichi translates to "over 9000" is wrong. Sorry for posting here about the report, but it's been some time since I submitted it and there seems to be no info on how it's been handled.

Well the line "it's over 9000!" is from Dragon Ball Z if that's the confusion going on. It is said during Vegeta and Naapa battle Goku on Earth. The proof is in a whole slew of videos located on YouTube. Here is one that STRESSES the line very clearly! Heh and I do mean stresses.

Or am I missing something about this topic? If so, what?

Perhaps insufficient use of the words "in Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi" creating unwarranted focus on dialog well-known to occur in DBZ?

runetide appears to be saying that "over 9000" is not actually said in Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi; that "over 9000" was added (in Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi) by overzealous fansubbers (instead of translating the actual dialog which did not include that phrase in Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi); and that the replacement of the actual dialog in Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi with the DBZ meme created an errorneous reference to Dragonball Z which exists only in that fan-subbed translation and not in the original material in Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi.

runetide does not appear to be questioning whether the phrase "over 9000" appears in DBZ, which is what responses thus far have addressed.

The substance of the error report would thus be that there is actually no DBZ reference in Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi outside of the artificial construct in a particular fansub translation, rendering the trivia item a false one.

Well, thanks to you all for replying.
I did understood what was meant after runetide's second post, but I didn't have the time to reply immediately.

So it was just a misinterpretation. Until further proof - which will not be given, if we understand each other - the trivia in "Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi" will be considered unlikely. I removed it for now.
