Hollywood does run out of a lot of ideas.

If the allegations are true, I understand the desire to be properly credited, but it's kind of a weird fight to pick given that selling unlicensed replicas is an obvious copyright violation.

Not that this has anything to do with the story but okay.

Yeah, and the original Star Wars movies stole a ton of stuff from French Valerian graphic novels. Good luck taking Hollywood to task for ripping you off when you're not American!

That was my opinion too. Given that the replica product is itself a copy, isn't it rather odd to be complaining about copying in general? Why is it OK for Tomenosuke to copy the original movie prop, but not OK for the movie staff to use their product in the new film? And what about the makers of the original firearms whose parts were used to make the original? This was never a 100% original artistic design; the prop from the first movie was made by cobbling together recognizable parts from existing guns. Are the makers of those original parts supposed to be credited now? How far is this going to go?

And since when are products "credited" anyway? I can't recall I've ever seen a movie which credited the manufacturers of all the items used for props and decor in those films.
