God, I love Discotek. Bananya is a day-one purchase for me. I've never seen Robot Carnival, but I certainly appreciate that fancy release and all the work they're putting into it.

Obfuscation for incompetence at its finest. That you can't buy the version of this show with the English dub unless it has the terrible Italian TV soundtrack is one thing, but that I can't even get a version of the show with the English dub and the Japanese music at all is just a result of Discotek's failure to make a deal with the Japanese studio. I suppose I'll have to settle for just the Japanese version, but that means the people I can show it to to introduce to Lupin is extremely limited now. I can't even support the good English dub now because it won't be on the release I get. Epcar and the gang's work is rendered worthless. I don't know why they bothered getting Gold of Babylon when there are far better features to license (Dead or Alive comes to mind). It's the weakest of the theatrical movies by far, but I guess as a curiosity it works. At least we're getting Cyborg 009. |

I was hoping for Dragon of Doom as a DVD/BD combo, but I can't say I'm disappointed about Babylon. I prefer my Lupin stuff silly rather than grimdark, and it's hard to get sillier than this. I feel a little bad for the people who were hoping to get Blue Jacket with the English dub and the Japanese music, but I'm sure Discotek tried everything in their power to make that happen.
I'm really happy to get the Tomorrow's Joe movie. I hope I can see the series one day, too. |

Cyborg 009 is Day 1 purchase for me. I'll also be buying Project Arms (I can finally sell off those single DVDs).

Robot Carnival on BD is a welcome surprise. I thought that great little OVA would be stuck on DVD forever.

I can't contain my excitement for Cyborg 009 finally getting a proper release after years of bad HK subs and VHS rips of the Cartoon Network airing. Robot Carnival on BD is amazing news too, definitely going to double dip on that even though I already have the DVD. It's disappointing though that we couldn't get an all in one release of Lupin with the dub over the Japanese music, because the dub is really quite stellar so far.
I love that somebody is finally taking advantage of the Blu-ray's capability to play SD video at a higher quality than DVD. If only we could get a release of FLCL that doesn't have the compression problems of the DVD or ugly up scaling of the BD. |

I can't believe after all these years we're FINALLY getting a FULL release of Cyborg 009 2001 in the U.S. I've been waiting for this for TOO long! This is why Discotek is in my top 3 licensors.

Wow, a NieA_7 rescue? That's one I wouldn't expect. It was a fun enough series, but not one that left a massive impression on me, unlike most of the other series ABe had a hand in. I think I only saw a random episode or two of the Cyborg 009 series, but I know people have been clamoring for a full release of it for ages, so it's good to see that finally getting rescued.
The Lupin news is...puzzling. I can't say I understand why a separate international version of the series exists in the first place, much less why it necessitates two entirely-separate releases. Just watching the show on Toonami, I really don't understand why the "international" version leaves out the single-most identifiable aspect of Lupin there is: that iconic 70s theme song. |

Hopefully Discotek fixes this at a future date. |

Normally Discotek release their titles sub-only if a prior dub never existed, so is this a first time for them?
While not as good as Lain or Haibane Renmei, being a Yoshitoshi ABe fan I think it's great they're not letting Niea_7 fade away. But is it really true that Tokyopop released the manga, or is that an error? I have the Japanese import volumes, but no matter where I look, Amazon or eBay, I'm finding no existing English copies of this. |

With Cyborg 009 rerelesed. I do believe that now makes every single anime that aired on the classic Toonami block readily available again. Strange situation with Lupin though. Oh well, I'll just buy the sub-only release then.

They really have come far indeed. Last edited by Zeino on Sun Aug 13, 2017 11:23 pm; edited 2 times in total |

Sounds like the problem is TMS and TMS alone https://twitter.com/Jose_CNN/status/896811166122561537 |

This question should probably be for the next ANNCast but for Hells, I would say yes because for Lupin Part 4 & Jigen's Gravestone, those dubs were produced by TMS with the former being in production long before Discotek (and Anime Limited in the UK) announced the license. Can't speak for Bananaya but since that was also a TMS series, that dub might also be their doing. |

At the very least, Discotek shouldn't have teased us with a dub featuring the Red Jacket cast if they knew they were only going to dub the Italian TV version. |
