Been reading the manga for this and so happy to see this getting the TV anime adaptation.
Based on the review, I have confidence on this show. I hope Wit Studio can retain the budget all the way through.

I have to agree that this will be the show to beat next season and will be a strong contender in the one after that as well. Probably Wit's best looking TV production, though I thought that the OVA's looked better, but those were essentially a theatrical production so that is to be expected. That they had three episodes available to screen three months before broadcast speaks well to the health of the production. I think their use of their original makeup animation technique was even more natural than in Attack on Titan's second season. The story is just as good as the visual side of the production. I liked the SD comedy bits more than Theron (and that seemed to be the consensus in the theater I saw it at). I would be hard pressed to think of a show that looks more promising than Ancient Magus Bride for fall, though I'm anticipating winter's Violet Evergarden more.

I just cannot wait to see this, and I really hope it gets a dub down the line after the Japanese run is over.

The SD works in the manga so I can't see why it wouldn't in the anime.

All be it by the cold calling agent's suggestion in opposition to the action she was about to perform to "cure" her situation.

So are the prequels a must-see before the anime? Or do they spoiler it somehow? Not too familiar with the material.

The prequels were made for the current fans really. Wouldn't say they spoil anything but might as well just wait for the anime at this point.

Sleigh Beggy?
SLEIGH BEGGY?
For the love of Louis Pasteur... That is absolutely stupid-sounding. I prefer the term the scanlators used: Slay Vega. Sounds better.

I always thought it was odd, too, but "sleigh beggy" is an actual type of fairy originating on the Isle of Man. Hence both the manga and the anime are accurate on the spelling.

I am excited! I was really impressed by the manga's ability to take a premise that sounds groan-worthy at first (girl gets sold off as a bride to a man of mystery) and make it something smart and fun without hammering you over the head about the themes.

Given that it's licensed by Crunchyroll and the show is this far ahead of schedule (3 episodes done 3 months before premiere), it's possible we could get a same-day dub from Funi.

Sleigh Beggy is the correct term. The only reason why early scanlators used "Slay Vega" was due to the difficulty that Japanese has with retaining foreign words when they are converted to katakana. You can see hints of the proper form there in what the scanlators chose (V instead of B, Slay instead of Sleigh). Also, because it's merely a problem with going from roman alphabet -> katakana -> roman, it actually does not sound any different

Gosh, don't tease me, Blankslate. That'll make the wait crazier. XD

Still trying to fathom that people want to watch dubbed anime.

Not sure why that would require fathoming. It's called preference, you know. Not everyone likes their anime subbed only. Dubs are what make them more accessible.
