Almost the same as my sister and yet people still call her rather slim. She's less than half of Hanako(?).

She's definitely drawn chubbier looking than 5'9 185 lbs, lol. It's odd that they specified height and weight instead of just drawing her and letting the reader assume ...

America and Japan have different standards for being overweight, obviously.

I would've guess about that weight and 4 inches shorter. lol
Anyway, this is kinda nice. I don't like the way Japan views plus-sized people in general. Being healthy is important, but encouraging weight loss at the expense or proper nutrition is very bad. And the way people treat overweight people is majorly unfair.

well, I got some cousins, same height, same weight and they look like that, so they author did not pull the numbers out of her sleeve.

I'm 5'5" and 195lbs and look nothing like that, so I think everyone carries their weight differently. While there may be some that look like that, I'd say the amount of 5'9" people that are 185lbs and look like that character are probably extremely limited in number. A lot of the measurements given for anime characters often leave a lot to be questioned... so... I guess we should just chalk it up to anime/manga's exaggeration of visuals.

Hanako would make for a nice hugging/cuddling session, look at her, she's adorable.

I'm just under 6'3 and weigh between 200-210. I actually do consider myself a bit fat (doesn't help I have 38" waist).

I think the average dress size is 14 in the 'states...Nothing wrong with this character at all. I've been in the shoes of ordering a dress and finding it fit incorrectly. Wandering Son tackles different issues, but anything like this is different from traditional tropes and very refreshing. Definitely keeping an eye on this one. Something like this should not be abnormal at all, but marketing at a commercial level can be very narrow. Good opportunity; with a success, anime possibly?

It can be bigger in certain areas, of course. Where I'm from it's more like a size 16. I'm 6'1", broad-shouldered (been swimming competitively since I was 9 - them's the breaks!) and stocky, so I tend to have to buy tailor-made clothing for things like work trousers and decent shirts that actually cover my chest, rather than buying from usual clothing stores which usually just take a size 12 and simply magnify it up one size, rather than considering the darts and fabric economy they'll need for a bigger size.
The manga looks cute, but my word. 185lb is considered plus size???
