Considering that Japanese gamers are going through the exact same social crap that Japanese anime fans are going through, I claim solidarity.
It helps to keep a cross-section view of all J-culture, to know how the fate of one might lead to the next.

Many, if not, most anime watchers are gamers and many manga/anime get games on those consoles. Never mind there's at least one character who is a moe anthropomorphism of the Playstation consoles and she even has a little sister based on the PSP/Vita. And both made it in an anime.
Speaking of her, Noire approves.

At this rate, it will be decades before Virtual Reality will ever become a wider trend.

Back in February, Sony said PSVR sales were 915,000 units worldwide. Because Sony is willing to report Horizon's sales in decimals and their previous PSVR sales were extremely precise, I suspect PSVR is not much higher than 1 million. That means they've sold ~100k units in 3 months, which includes the launch of Fairpoint, a heavily advertised and well-reviewed exclusive.
I don't care what the Sony PR people say. Selling ~33k/month worldwide for a new hardware initiative is abysmal for something being treated as a big deal. Nintendo is probably going to sell more NES Classics this month, despite that being discontinued. The obvious response is, "PSVR costs too much." Yeah, it does. It takes time for newish technologies to reach mass market prices points. The problem is that by the time this incarnation of PSVR is cheap enough, the technology in it will be severely outdated. Many would argue it was already obsolete on day-1 thanks to Vive.

Allow me to direct your attention to the weekly video game column, the giant Dead or Alive banner ad yesterday, the marquee feature manga guide, etc., etc. They report on a lot more than animated streaming/disc releases.

Wow, thanks for the reminder. I know I sure had forgotten the name of the website. I was sitting here racking my brain trying so hard to remember just what was the name of this place. I almost thought it was McDougals but man was I wrong.
