Hah... Yeah, this arc is really long. It doesn't finish up until Volume 18, so there are actually eight more volumes, and this won't be the last info-dump volume either.
Either way, this is practically my favorite arc out of this franchise.

Haven't read the official translation yet, but did they really translate it to this? The fan translation's Soul Translator, makes much more sense considering the nature of the machine.

I think it is really more 2 arcs. You have Kirito and Eugeo's journey to free Alice and fight Administrator and then you have the mercenary invasion / war arc. Yeah, it is all in the same game, but it is an entirely different set of motivations, goals, and circumstances.
As for volume 10, I think it was overall really boring, but I do agree with Theron that the virtual tech stuff is pretty cool.

It's only 1 arc. DxD does the same thing. It has around 21 or 22 volumes out but it's on it's 4th and last Arc.
Also, i know i'm being a bit ehhh, but don't call it a game when it's anything but...

I think one of the draws of the Alicization Arc is how it actually made us wonder how it managed to actually be that long. Because of how expansive it was, I kinda wish it had tighter narration.

And those arcs were united by a common group of enemies. I mean the hero faction arc is not the same as the evil dragon arc. Yes, Alicization is somewhat connected because it is part of the same story. It isn't really the same arc any more than DxD's hero faction and evil dragons are the same arc though. Actually even more so in Alicization because the second arc of Alicization is really about Alice rather than Kirito.

They call it the Soul Translator, or STL, in the official translation too.
