I'm really really fed up with the common mindset that animation is an inferior art form to live-action (which I dare say: BULLOCKS), and with how if it's foreign it's unappealing.

Just going to keep an open mind and wait for it to come out before passing judgement. It's still better than going to the theaters.

Uggghhhhh... They're trying to make an already suspenseful work more suspenseful, but they're trying to do it through aesthetics and being "edgy", when then source material does it by actual plot. Hollywood and anime just don't mix well. Not to mention its completely different story-wise from the looks of it. This shows about being discreet and calculated in your actions but the trailer is the complete opposite, boisterous and generic.

Aesthetics remind me of edgy 90s films, not psychological mystery thrillers with dramatic orchestration. Not the best first impression.

If you want to see the manga´s story copied in live-action, go watch the Japanese movies. For me, I only want it to be good, I don´t mind much the changes that have been presented by now.
And it´s only a teaser. It doesn´t give much information about the movie

I guess I'm one of the only few people who are OK with it if the original creators give their seal of approval on a project......

Teaser seems brief but effective. Hopefully they let the plot breathe unlike those awful Japanese films.

I am hoping at least that they change Misa's character in this version. I think she is the worst part of the original series. The typical trope of an annoying air headed love crazed girl.

I don't think it's so much a problem with the story or Muricanization as it is with the overall tone. Author's intent is important when making an adaptation, and changing the genre often isn't the way to go. The second half of the trailer seems to betray that, giving us edgy high school shots akin to a CW trailer and then depicting action sequences like Light running from the cops and hanging from a Ferris wheel - which isn't Death Note at all. I'll wait till the movie itself releases, but overall, Netflix should really start theatrically releasing movies.

Trailer looks awesome and the guy killing criminals being a white guy in the USA actually enhances the themes of vigilante justice being wrong.

It seems perfectly in line with the random edgy symbolism Death Note has always indulged in.

No you're not. I always find it interesting when people adapt foreign material. It usually turns out bad but while I have little anticipation for these products, I always have my hopes up that something good will come out of it. Time will tell.
