You mean "licensed rescued" because Sony had the DVD release of the 1st 8 episodes 12 yeas ago. If any company stands a chance for it getting rescued, Discotek is probably said company.

The actress in costume reminds me more of Armitage...

Okay, that's pretty cool. It's nice to see more live-action Ishinomori works getting released in the States. Now, when can I get my Kamen Rider: The First Blu-Ray? I get that Toei is stingy with licensing their live-action properties but Media Blasters did license it 10 years ago...

I think you two are thinking of Cyborg 009. 009-1 is a completely different series by the same author. It had a 2006 anime series that was licensed by ADV, then later transferred to FUNi, and is now OOP.

That's good. I actually enjoyed this movie quite a bit. Good trashy fun.

Oh yes, very stingy.
009-1 is also on Netflix, not just Crunchyroll.

Pretty sure they don't have the license anymore since the DVD has been long out of print with no re-release at all like they did, twice, with Devilman & Zebraman. It sucks but considering that they never bothered to license Kamen Rider The Next, it probably means that The First didn't do so well.
