Well, thank God. Nothing too big. IMO, at least.

Comments by several posters in the other thread suggest otherwise. |

I'm not aware of ever being notified in writing, but then "state laws" don't apply to me.

I didn't get any notification which means my account was not affected or since I use it so infrequently it's gone dormant who know no news is good news I guess. Well tried to log into my account website made me change my password and the I ever used it was 10/4/16 and no e-mail or PMs that I could see.

In cases like this no news is good news and I wasn't affected

It sounds like they did what was legally required, and the breach wasn't as extensive as it could have been, but I think it is still a good PR move to announce something like this and tell people they should probably change their passwords just in case.

It would've been nice if they told us at the time it occurred just so it wouldn't crop up as a surprise months after the fact. |

Well hopefully Funimation takes steps to ensure that something like this never happens again. I know that you're never completely safe from hacking but higher security is always a good thing to have.

My info was listed on the "Have I been pwned?" site as being part of the Funimation breach.
I have never received notification of any sort from Funimation in regards to this matter. Indeed, without the stories here at ANN, I would never have known. My opinion of Funimation is rather abysmal, as you might imagine. |

I highly disagree to those above who said it's not extensive. Because they didn't have access to the passwords doesn't mean it's any less serious.
You have low-grade hackers who would love to have your password to use to make advertisements for their illicit businesses, or gaining access your account and buy goods. You get the bill, they get the goods. But what they are really after is the ID information of those account holders. And Funimation themselves confirmed it in this article:
Those email accounts will be targeted by Phishers and spammers, and these hackers will research the web and test popular sites to see where these people visit, do business, and banking. Then use loopholes to get additional information and eventually complete ID Theft! So if you're one of these people, I very much would start monitoring your various accounts more actively. And if you can change some information like Birthdays or living location, do so. |

Thats complete BS. The password to my free account WAS visable. A lot of accounts also had their passwords out there.

And you know this how? I'm all for questioning but unless you can provide evidence it's possible you're just lying to push an Anti-Funi agenda. |

They apply to Funimation. State laws require Funimation (to attempt) to notify affected customers, no matter where those customers live. |
