So, Archie comics has hired a previous winner to draw Sabrina the Teenage Witch-any of you aspiring artists planning to enter the latest competition?

A note to everyone outside the US or Puerto Rico: You can't enter the Rising Stars competition. Crying or Very sad I'd love to set something up like this for Canada/Australia/Britain though! Some day...

Hmmmmmmmmm...I'll probably skip this contest. I mean I got great story plots, but my drawings are pritty crummy. Sad

Hold on! More than one person can do the manga! I got friends who are superior at drawing, that they can do a straght line and call it shear genious . Maybe we will join the contest.

Wish us luck!

Duh... third time and they still ban non-Americans from entering the competition. Why so protective? I've seen European artists who kick the snot out of a good deal of the previous winners' efforts. Isn't it in TP's best interests to have the best work published?

Hold on... here's an interview that might even be newsworthy Smile
http://www.collectortimes.com/Clubhouse.html

... in particular this bit:

Jamie Coville:

* Does TOKYOPOP have plans to hire American creators to do original work?

Jeremy Ross:

* We already do. See our web site for titles such as Shutterbox, @Large and World of Hartz. In the future, we plan to hire manga artists from all over the world to create many original works.

Jamie Coville:

* Does TOKYOPOP plan to reprint comics from countries other than from Japan?

Jeremy Ross:

* We were the first company to successfully introduce Korean manga (they call it manwha) to America and now Korean books make up a significant portion of our lineup. Our Digimon manga comes from Hong Kong. And we are planning to publish manga by European creators.

Looks like not all hope is lost yet for us European artists Very Happy

This goes to only prove what I speculated a long time ago.

Tokyopop wishes to conquer the planet, not only will they do so completely in a decade, but I love the idea.

Taking japanese work and then korean work and bringing it here and then to the UK. Creating a manga base in america and eventually brining it to the UK and then maybe Japan and Korea. Creating contests potentially in the UK and then expanding into Europe and maybe Japan and Korea and porting what they get all over the place and crearting more contests and porting it all over the place. They are in control! hahaha, i love it, this I feel is the best way to end insanity, have people write about it instead of living it.

Wow! This would be fun to be in, I'll look more into it! This could be so awsome! And if I don't win, who cares?! It'll still be fun! Surprised
