Yeah, it means they're not in the business of losing money by creating a new dub. If you don't like it, don't listen to it -- or should they have just left the dub out entirely to placate the vocal haters?
Seasons 2-3 weren't dubbed until 2002-03, btw.

I don't like the dub either but there's nothing that can be done except avoid it which I reccomend. The Japanese cast is a great ensemble and the 5.1 mix sounds so amazing that its a must hear if you have the setup.

I've been meaning to get this for a while. I hope Nozomi gives it the same treatment the DVD's got.

I've watched Escaflownes new dub, and honestly it wasn't all that great. So while a new dub for Untena could be good, it is by no means a sure thing.

I don't mind reading subtitles, but there are plenty of anime fans who won't watch subs and won't watch Utena because the dub is annoyingly mediocre.

Can't satisfy everyone. There's nothing that can be done about it if dub only viewers don't like the dub. There's lots of anime with bad dubs, they aren't going to redo it just because many hate it. People recently look at Escaflowne & Sailor Moon re-dubs and have this fantasy that other bad dubs will be redone. Those were very unique special cases.

This fantasy has been a thing since FUNi rescued One Piece in 2007. Remember when they later rescued Love Hina and people thought that was getting redubbed? Didn't happen and FUNi didn't bother getting all of the anime.

Do Nozomi tend to region lock their BDs?

Why are you even a fan to begin with?
DO you have ANY IDEA how the industry in the US works?
They get by on very slim budgets producing localizing and producing adaptations for the English-speaking market...
The average title released in store MAY sell 3,000-5,000 copies -- but that's not guaranteed. A lot of titles sell worse.
They cannot afford to dub EVERYTHING now.
They can't afford to REDUB EVERYTHING, FOR SURE!!!
And frankly, it's STUPID to redub a show that was dubbed 10 or 20 years ago!
That's money better spent elsewhere.
Yeah, I can see redubbing a show that has a large enough audience to be worth it but not niche titles or titles that had more limited followings to begin with!
They can get away with a redub on Sailor Moon because that DOES have a large enough fanbase in the States. 90% of the other shows? Uh-uh.
People with your attitude will DESTROY this industry.
I suggest if you don't think they don't cater to your little corner of cyberspace that you find a new hobby. We have too many people as it with an entitlement mentality and we sure could use a lot less of that everywhere!
Now, unless you want Disney and Warner Bros to swoop and BUY OUT every license and REALLY bastardize it like they have the OTHER things they own (anything with superheroes in it, very likely Star Wars from the Disney end), you might want to consider how lucky we are that MOST anime that gets released in the US is relatively uncensored on home video.
There are other parts of the world where that isn't the case. They STILL censor shows in Europe and parts of Asia.
The dubs in English aren't always the worst ones, either.
Occasionally, the English language tracks are actually considered superior to the Japanese versions -- and that's by the original Japanese producers!!!!

I own the remastered DVDs and I won't be double-dipping. Good news for all those who love Blu-ray releases, though.
