I watched TG but I don't remember who Donato is nor what he has done to Hannibal Lecter level. Probably because it didn't interest me much.
A clown list and no mention of Mayumi from Bleach, Charlotte from Madoka, the clowns from Soul Eater or Kuuchu Puranko?

As for the grandma poll, I guess I can't say I expected her to be there, but personally I would have voted for Kate, Yuki's grandmother from Tsuritama. Settled for the grandmother from Summer Wars instead - not a bad second option, lol.

As for the new poll, while Laputa's Dola/Dora might be pretty fun with her piracy and flapters, I had to add Megabaa to the list. She sells such fun hacks for the Dennou Coil augmented-reality glasses, among many, many other things...
As for the clowns in the list, I don't think that I've seen any of them aside from Bebop's. He's a pretty good choice, though.

The part with Donato being aligned with the Clowns is actually a spoiler that was only just recently revealed in the manga. Not sure why it's here.

Lmao that Tokyo ghoul one is a huge manga spoiler and was never revealed in the anime. You guys should add a spoiler warning.

I knew there was a reason I had ZERO clue about the tokyo ghoul entry.
That said I really think that the cowboy bebop entry should lower since he is only in part of one episode and Hysoka is one of the most terrifying joker (I mean as in how he can easily be an antagonist or an ally to the good guys)

You don't remember "watching" it because this revelation is a Tokyo Ghoul:Re spoiler <.<

Guess I must be one of those few folks who don't find clowns scary at all. I enjoy them for their performances in circuses and theater acting. I'm not sure what is it about clowns that's so terrifying to others that there's an actual phobia listed for them (coulrophobia), but I guess I've always smiled when I see their antics. Fictional clowns in media don't really change my opinion, no matter how demented you make them.

Nice, my choices made it to top six. While there were many other worthy choices to pick from, I didn't choose them because A) they were more recent and B) sequels are inevitable for some (hello Re:Zero).

Nothing scary about the forever fixed expression, the dead white face, the red lips, the silent yet exaggerated movements or worse, the forced joviality for the ones that do speak? The white face clowns, the Bozos of the world and let us not forget, mimes.
Ok, mimes are more annoying than scary but a clown outside of its normal environment is fuel for horrors not hilarity.
And in its normal habitat? It's guy who hides his face under makeup and hangs around with kids... just "ehhh?"...
I'm ok with fictional clowns though.

Cracked talked about this just yesterday. I think one of their captions summed it up nicely:
"Corpse skin? Check. Alcoholic nose? Check. Mouth that looks like a lion after a kill? Check. Come on in, the birthday party's in the back yard."
I think I wouldn't have put BB's Joker on this list. He lacks the look of a clown or even a jester really, and he never came across as particularly sinister to me. Learning his motives made him even less so. Compare him to Hisoka, whose look is very similar, but who exudes threat by just standing there.
